I like Scrap Yard knives. I like the forum here even better. People do move on. That's the nature of things. But I, for one, have not given up on this forum. I consider the old members and the new ones to be my friends. Besides, I am anxious to see the new models. And they WILL come.

And I for one am really happy you stay around Vic! Your threads are among the best on the forum. I would rank them right behind posts that usual start with "48 hour notice".

I expect we will see some folks wander back as the summer wraps up as well.

My fear is the unknown. I have no idea how many in the pack are going to go for a limited number of product, when it's ever announced. I'm looking to buy my first SYK, so I have a different point of view than those of you that own one or more already. It makes me quiver just to think about it.

Fear not rackemup...... if you don't get a chance to get a blade at release there is always the after market. Also, we tend to take care of each other at this forum. I have been know to buy a few extra for others and they have done the same for me!

Well it has been an informative day for me.....been doing a lot of sharpening on knives ready to do some tests and will do some posts in due course when I have some Dogs to throw in the mix. They are in the post at present.

I have been scanning the Busse site on Blade and the Exchange and discovered that Jerry's favourite Busse knife is......a Jackhammer! I was suprised at this....I did'nt recognise it at all from my mental recollection and later in the same thread someone posted a picture of the knife. Quite a formidable looking knife.....definately got my attention. Its looks sort of grow on you...

Anyway...was scanning the Exchange and lo and behold one was up for sale...a CE model with bare infi/black look and my type of green/black grips....instant Infi monkey on my back whispering in my ear....I decided it was "meant to be" and "scored" it. Not a knife for pulling out with "sheeple" about....very mean looking...but I love it.

Anyway...I am rambling...my point is ...we should ask Dan what his favourite knife is. If it has not already been done....

Jerry's choice suprised me...I figured it would have been the Steel Heart in one guise or another...probably going off the logo I guess...that and the price! HotRodKelly has a HOGFSHLE No1 up for sale at $2000!!!! I had to get a grip then....was thinking of selling some of my expensive knives....I reckon it would take 4 of these knives to get this sort of cash....and maybe have a piece of history? Got a grip of myself....found the Jackhammer and said to myself that "this makes more sense"!!

Which ofcourse it does'nt....unless you are a knife collector....!

Anyway...here is a picture of the knife....now at least I am good for a few more days...

I love my JH, it's one of my favorite Busse knives as well.

The only thing I am not crazy about on the comp blades is that they rust FAST. I had mine for only a few days and it developed rust spots and I tell you they rust is not easy to get out of those grooves. Other than that I LOVE the JH!!!

Try using Naval Jelly, it will get the rust out of all those hard to reach places. This stuff right here http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-81756-Naval-Dissolver-Bottle/dp/B0007TQW5G

Jerry had an explanation of the rust on the competition blades, a thin coat of decarb left from the grinding process. You can sand it off or just keep your blade clean and oiled well. Adds a little character as well.

Thanks for all the "well wishes" on the Jackhammer guys....there is a great crowd and atmosphere on here...I am glad the positiveness is coming back with an easy going attitude as to "when" on the new release....it is a much better way to look at things....not sure now why I was getting wound up by it all...first time inexperience I guess....I forgot about 48 hrs notices etc and figured the shop could sell out in quick time.....so missing the announcement was an over weighted concern. Now I am happy that the notice period will be a safety net.

Great photo's of your JH Ted.....lovely Ruger .22 in the photo's as well. Over here in the UK before pistols were banned we had an easy going attitude on silenced/moderated pistols and rifles....we still do on rifles...it is to do with a positive Health and Safety view on Noise Abatement....well my favourite pistol for practising was a Hi Standard integral moderated .22....
great pistol with Eley sub-sonic ammo...you could practise anytime...no noise concerns at all. That pistol was brilliant.I had that, a Para Ordinance custom .45 P14 for practical pistol comps and a 625 S&W .45ACP with full moon clips and a great double action only trigger job. Used this for the Revolver PP comps and the same ammo was a bonus on reloading convenience. I really miss those pistols!

Now I only get to shoot pistols through the TA and have very infrequent use and the pistols are just regulation issue Brownings HP's which have seen better years and are as loose as sin. If I were able I would like a Novak Hi-Power as my own pistol but we are not able to easily own your own pistol....got to go with what your issued....if and when you were allocated one. Been contemplating getting one and keeping it at a Heritage centre where we can shoot them but they must stay on site. Heritage pistols need to have a "collectable" aspect to them.....so a Renaissance HP would qualify....pretty and expensive but very much a useful performer.Either that or a Sig P210 target model.

My condolences on the pistols Steelfan. I say go for the P210 ,it is a true classic and possibly the best auto pistol ever(yes including the 1911 ,sorry yanks). As far as issue pistols it could be worse the US has some nice Berretas with garbage mags that fail to feed even if you only have 10 rounds in them.
I think the US should go to .45 for morale and because they are not allowed to use anything but nonexpanding ammo. With good ammo a 9mm is just as good but if you are stuck with underpowered FMJ(US 9mm is weak)then at least get a big one.
Also I think it would make them happy and more confident just because Americans love the .45 so why not.

Canada's armed forces still use the smae old HP's some of which are very old but if you have small hands you can get a nice little Sig.

Heck I am not even a big fan of handguns. I much prefer a rifle and a good fighting knife. At the kind of ranges most civilian gun fights occur at a knife is as good or better. One place a handgun is ideal though is in a car.
