yeah, without mentioning names i have noticed a few old schoolers with big post numbers are MIA.
and while i dont know why or specifics i think for some its more of a forum thing than a scrapyard knife thing.
a forum is an ever evolving being with new names coming all the time and old ones leaving.this is not the same forum it was 1 year ago and is not the same forum it will be a year from now.
dont forget too, people move on.interests and hobbies change, family and work responsibilities change and financial situation fluctuate. Dont worry about me guys....... I still drop by from time to time , the summer is my busy time and my outdoor adventure time, so dont you worry.

Here's what's causing you rust problems, from Bladeforums at http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=572366&highlight=rust It's a layer of decarb that wasn't fully removed after HT I think. Been working bit by bit getting my CGFBM refinished and it's easy to tell the difference between the "real" infi and the layer of decarb. The layer is really really thin, but incredibly difficult to remove. I really wish I had a sandblaster to do the work for me, since a scotchbrite wheel in a drill is really slow going, and doesn't get into the corrugations. And then a reply from Jerry... The comp blades still have a layer of de-carb on them from the heat treat process. . . .That's the black or darker colored steel that you see above the edge. . . De-carb is very prone to rusting on pretty much any steel. . . If you remove it by either grinding or double cutting, then you have the real INFI steel surface and not the modified surface of the de-carb.
INFI has similar rust resistance to ATS-34 and D-2 due to the carbon to chromium ratio. . .
Make sense? If not. . . then you need to drink more!!!!!
Jerry Puzzle solved.

Hello, new to this whole forum thing...so I don't know if this is the correct way to do this. Just wanted to mention that I recently (finally) purchased a DCDM from Jim Kelly over at workingknives.com, his customer service is the best I have see in a long time, ordered on Wednsday and recieved Friday; great contact and fair pricing. Just my 2 cents

I think I have figured out the new plan. Offer as few Scrappers as possible and only a few more Rats. This will cause customers to buy the more expensive Busse Combat offerings. Brilliant! .

Thank God Jerry insists on nailing micarta to the back end of the knives! I dread to think what would happen to my bank account if Jerry started using res-C again on his INFI..
