Hello...first post.

I have a Yard Keeper with a handle that was chewed up by a squirrel. Don't laugh...it's true. I've emailed Patti twice over the past 4 weeks but haven't gotten a response yet so I thought I'd ask for help here. Squirrel damage clearly isn't a warranty issue so I'm looking for info on who to contact and the cost to have a new handle put on. Thanks for the help.

Well the resperine C grip is one of the best features on the knife. It would need to go back to SYKCO to be replaced. If the e-mail is a bit backlogged I would consider sending it in with a letter of explanation rather than waste time on the e-mail front. The only other option is to consider some form of custom grip....but that would not be my preference.

Oh and welcome to the Yard!!

I'd keep trying to get in touch with them, I know they said they've had some issues with email.

I agree with SF though, If I ever get an opportunity like that, I'd have to make a custom handle for it. I just wouldn't be able to resist.

Welcome to the Yard! You might try a PM rather than email.

thanks for the warm welcome. i'm undecided as to what to do with this one. i really like the knife. i could go either way with the res-c handle. the temptation to have a custom handle put on is strong but the res-c handle is tough yet comfortable. If this was a big chopper I'd would stay with the res-c in a heartbeat. cost is factor in my decision. I'll try to PM Patti to see if she has a price for handle replacement.

thanks again for the responses

Welcome to the Yard Morrow! Did I mention I hate squirrels? I'm sure you do at this point too.

I'd send it back in to Dan and get the original Res-C replaced cuz I really like how light and comfy the Res-C handles are.

Squirrel damage? They are mean little bastards even if they are kind of cute.
Good eating as well if you get a few of them.

I think it is Bark River that has a similar warranty to the yard but an exception for badgers.

I really want a puppy but I have a few really nice old knives with those leather washer handles that dogs LOVE to chew. It will take some serious puppyproofing before the Unsub compound is ready for a new Pup.

I emailed Renee and she got me squared away quite quickly. Thank you Renee.

I'll post some pics before I send it off so there is record of what probably is the only squirrel-chewed Scrap Yard on the planet.
