Based on current items I own, I would go with my EAA Witness .45 and Benchmade Nimravus for an urban adventure.
Edited because I reread the question.

if you could only have one knife and one pistol to take with you on your adventure in the urban environment, which would you carry and why?
for me, i would take my Scrapper 6 and my Glock26. the G26 is the best sub that glock makes IMO, because the 9x19mm ammo can be found virtually anywhere and the S6, well it speaks for itself. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> G17 and S6

i'd been waiting, from the start of this thread, for someone to name a 1911. Your welcome!

Do you see the para-ordinance P14 .45 as a 1911? Or a different species? When I had mine I saw it as a Hi Capacity 1911....but your mag restriction laws have lost this one advantage....strange law in my view....what is the position on "old mags"? You can own pre ban Hi Cap Mags but cannot import them from Canada for example?

which trigger do you have on that para? that's the deciding factor to me, not the mag.
old mags are fine and the ban's over.

The trigger was single action....I had a Gold Cup trigger and the original....the original worked best for me after a job was done on it....but both were good....I preferred the narrower trigger.

Mine is awfully close to Vic's ,a Sig P210 and the Henry Bowie in my avatar.
I am not a big fan of handguns. If I could I would carry a rifle over my shoulder 24/7 like the Haji tribesmen. Something like a Socom16 or at least a Norinco Socom clone with a 18 inch barrel if Canada's barrel length laws are still an issue.
If it was stuff I actually owned my ParkerHale and SS4.
As far as the 9mm vs .45 I rather like the 9mm for accuracy and expense.
I think the US army should definitely use the 1911 in .45 Morale would be a good enough reason but because the army can't or won't use hollowpoints and good self defense 9mm I think .45 would make more sense.
If I was going with the super villain look a mauser broomhandle and an Italian auto stilleto ,a big one with ivory handles and swing guard.
Or Soviet cool with a Stechin and a ballistic knife.
