tyger - you seem to share some of ColdOne's shyness! Nice fish! When we went to Alaska in 1990 we were catching some nice salmon on the Kenai river. Great way to spend some time!

Thanks, PK. Yeah, I'm kinda shy a little.

I can't wait to get down there tomorrow morning and start fishing though. I'm hoping to break 30 pounds with a Salmon catch, and 10 pounds with a Trout catch. May fortune find me! LOL!

That is a very nice fish!! We went fishing the other weekend and caught a 46 lb flathead, I had never seen anything like it before!

That was caught last year at Port Hope, Ontario, Canada.
He put up a nice fight; took me nearly 15 minutes to haul him within range of my net.
He weighed in at roughly 26 and a half pounds.
I pulled him in on a ten pound test line, with nothing more than a small #10 octopus hook, baited with a row sack, loaded with 4 trout eggs and 3 styrofoam float pellets.

You ever in Ontario, give me a shout, and I'll take you to some of my fave spots. They're not as nice as the spots I grew up fishing in the Maritimes, but some nice fish come out of them regardless.

I also broke a rod (probably should have set the drag on it. :d) hauling in the biggest seen... he must have been 20lbs...

No worries; every fisherman has had his fair share of losses; they're what makes it so special when we finally land them! And don't feel too bad about the broken rod; in a one week period, I had the bad luck to break two of my favorite rods beyond any chance of repair, just through pure clumsiness!

BTW, an 8 pound large mouth around here in Ontario would have everyone going , so feel good about that catch. Largest one I've ever caught around here for largemouth was about a 4 pounder. You don't get the chance to see real big ones of that species around here.

I've yet to have a chance to land a Carp or a Muskie; two very large fish that would be well worth the fight to land. A buddy of mine and I go fishing two years ago, and the lucky bugger hauls in a 53 pound Musky! To this day, he won't shut up about it! Beautiful fish, but I wish I'd landed it! LOL!

yeah dude... one time they were in about 4 inches of water (on a sandbar) in a little lake about 40 ft off shore... they were all 6+... 4 of them! craziest thing I'd ever seen. I think they were spawning, cause they were twisting and coming out of the water and stuff.

then the other big one I lost went after a yellow perch I had on and my uncle ALMOST got a hook set on him.... but just not enough.

53 pound musky!!!!
that is just CRAZY man.

I wish I had some better rods, I just got a shimano crucial (my uncle gave it to me) and I actually LOVE it for a not so expensive rod.
its better than my old beat up compre's.
