Nice review and pics, thanks for sharing
Personally I was pretty disappointed in my kydex from the yard (for the MOD);
-the knife doesn't even fit in it at all, unusable -the mouth is too big, and down inside it's too small (can't get the knife in) -the loop was too big (cumbersome) -not near the quality of the blade it holds -our custom makers prices are not much more
So for the Price to Performance ratio, it didn't hit the mark for me. Other Yard-rigs may be better, I don't have them all, but from the pictures I've seen, I don't know.
Having a drain hole also means another opening for moisture to get IN, something that's debatable.
I commend the Yard for offering it, but I was surprised at it's quality and fit. just my views...

I'm with WhichDawg, I cant speak for the 10" kydex, but the smaller one was terrible. It was too tight to take the knife, excessively large (should be at least 1" narrower and shorter, very asymmetrical, excessive belt loop, and personally I'd have used thinner material.
I disagree about the drain hole though, it's nice be able to flush it out just by running it under the tap, and if moistures going to get it it'll do so with or without the hole, even the most form fitting sheaths wont be water proof, not that you'd want them to be cause they'd just end up trapping moisture that enters the sheath as residue on the knife.

I was given one of those sheaths when I purchased my DFLE off the secondary market, and I really didn't like it. I found it flopped around a lot (even with it tied to my leg), was uncomfortable on the hip if you're doing any extensive hiking/marching, and could only be worn in one very specific way to avoid being annoyed by the way it sat on your body . I felt that it could've been better designed, but then again, I'm very demanding in my needs of a sheath. I'm willing to pay the extra for a sheath that is quiet and conforms to my body so well that I forget it's there while I'm moving.

The first run of the small kydex sheaths didn't quite fit right. I know a few dogs returned theirs. A lot of dogs just took a heat gun or high powered hair dryer and reformed them. I ordered one when I ordered my YKCG. It didn't fit right but it fit the DMCG (smaller Busse Basic handle) just fine. I use it for my DMCG and ordered a slick leather sheath from Rainwalker for my YKCG http://www.scrapyardknives.com/ubbthread...true#Post188110The large belt loop will work with a 1 inch wide belt but it is designed for the military pistol belt . The kydex sheaths the yard offers aren't meant to be a perfect fit slim rig . They are a very reasonably priced work horse .

I'm with WhichDawg on this. The SY Kydex is the only SY product which has disappointed me.

I'm also not impressed with the Kydex Sheath for the Yard Keeper.

And I understand that; but personally, I also expect to be able to comfortably wear it, and was irritated by the number of times I was distracted having to deal with readjusting it, to ever consider using it. As with everything, it's a personal thing; some may like it, and others won't. Just so happens that I fall into the latter category this time! LOL!

They are a very reasonably priced work horse You save about 50% and in turn get something that doesnt even work. I wouldnt take another one if they were giving them away and only had to pay postage. As a functional sheath, it's not worth its weight in kydex.

My Dog Father kydex sheath just arrived today, purchased from Scrap Yard for $24.95. Hands down, much nicer than the nylon sheath that came with my DF. This sheath provides a perfect, custom fit: no play at all once sheathed, and nicely contoured to the handle to securely hold the Dog Father. Made from .090" thick kydex. The belt attachment is made from looped, folded kydex, affixed to the sheath with screws. Extra screws are included, as is a cord to tie around the leg. The bottom of the sheath, just below the tip, is open, which will allow liquid or dirt to pass through, and make cleaning easy. I'll be wearing this on my hip next time I go hiking. For the price, the build quality of this sheath is excellent. Obviously durable and well made. I wish something similar was sold by Scrap Yard (same goes for Busse and Swamp Rat) for all their knives. I highly recommend this to DF owners, and it is still available from the Scarp Yard company store. An awesome accessory for a truly awesome big chopper. Thnaks for the feedback and insight Dan
