Interesting take on Al Jazeera.....I knew David Frost went there...so figured they could not be an Al Queada soapbox...but did'nt realise they were meant to be so well respected.

I am certainly no fan of Al Jazeera, Al Qaida, or Al Gore, but it is interesting to me that news that might be of concern to many Americans is routinely ignored by the major news media. The Russians are conducting joint military training operations with Venezuela. Russian bombers are there now. Joint Naval execises are planned for the near future. Not one word of this has been on Fox, CNN, or the others that I have seen or heard. But Al Jazeera covered it. All we get are silly sound bites about lipstick and pigs.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I think when they founded Al Jazeera they basically poached the whole BBC staff in ME. Its a news organisation, always good to have competition. the station was funded initially to counteract Saudi Arabia who at the time where pressuring one of the Emirates (Quatar I think), The Emir was so Pi**ed that nobody spoke about it that he created his own news station. The station has done more for a culture of discussion in ME than all gov. initiatives combined.
