I approached a masked intruder outside my house w/ my Chopweiler!

Ok, maybe it’s not what you expected, but it got ya to click the link. This little guy has been hanging around a couple days. At first, Dad warned me to stay away from him, because he was afraid he was sick or diseased because he wasn’t scared of people. Today Dad said earlier today he came from behind the house when he got home, walked up to him, and started rubbing/leaning on his legs like a cat. Now it seems that he’s someone’s pet who was dumped in the country, or he escaped.

I went to take Sallie outside and I saw him on the porch. She went nuts, so I took her back in the house and shut her in a room before they could fight. We all went outside to get a look at him. Dad said he doesn’t think he knows how to eat in the wild. We grabbed some dog food and a bowl of water for him. He was very hungry and eagerly gobbled it up. He’s pretty tame, and lets us touch and pet him.

Here’s a pic of him on top of the cooler on the porch.

Then Dad said he wondered if he’d eat some apples from our trees. So I ran down to the trees in the front yard, and grabbed an apple for him, and my Chopweiler from the truck. I used my Chopweiler to cut up the apple for him into smaller pieces.

Quite tasty…I might have to pick more for myself tomorrow. We have 3 apple trees, 1 pear tree, 4 peach trees, and 3 black walnuts.

Hey little guy, “How do you like them apples?”

He made a muddy mess all over the cooler with his wet feet.

After he was full, he went for a rest under Dad who was sitting in the rocking chair.

After a filling meal, time to clean up…

And nothin’ beats a good belly stretch after a big meal.

I hope you guys enjoyed the pics. I dunno how long he’ll stick around, but maybe I’ll get some more pics of him later.

Gonna try finding a previous owner, or keep it yourself?

And yeah, they're cute critters. Very intelligent too.

wow, thats just nuts andy.coons always kind of sketched me out but that is obviously not your average coon,he's really cool.

what are you going to do with him since it doesnt seem he can live on his own??

quick story.when i was a kid in northern california i told my mom i saw a wolf chasing a deer and of coarse she thought i was crazy.a few days later a full grown german shepherd and a young deer came to our front door together and we fed them both.after that we would see them playing around and chasing each other around in the fields.they where friends.

that racoon seems like a really cool pet if he's safe.kind of like a cat but smarter and probably more entertaining

You should bring him in for shots and a clean up, after that name him. That would make an awsome pet!

I have a wild squirrl that I have been feeding for a year now. He has a split ear, so I know it is the same one. All I have to do is go out and whistle and he appears after a few minutes. I feed him nuts and cookies. He got real fat last year, before winter.

Cool pics Andy!

We used to have Raccoons come around all the time for cat food and scraps, but since I don't have cats any more I don't see many these days. They're fun to watch when they're eating.
