I love how the History Chanel and A&E will get wind of Hollywood making a big production historical based movie such as "300" or "Alexander" and then rush to make their own documentary version (which is always released a month before Hollywood's) to steel the thunder from Hollywood. They do it everytime!!!

I enjoyed it big time, but I also know that 99.9% of what is on the big screen is made up Hollywood fantasy. But it was a great motivator! Can't wait till the DVD, comes out and will definitely have to see the History Chanel documentary.
yeah that's what i figure..
i mean hollywood is... hollywood!
so say when i take the kids to the movies.. i try to leave my jaded attitude at the door.. and just try to enjoy for the entertainment value.

"Motivator's" right ZeroNine! after watching Rambo First Blood.. that's when i bought my First knife! LOL (even though it broke the 1st day)

frank miller didn't care about historical accuracy. he did his homework, used what he could, and ignored other things for the sake of entertainment. he just wanted to make a good comic, not a documentary. for the film, they wanted to transfer as much from the graphic novel as possible, the exact same look and feel or as close to it as they could. i'm pretty sure frank had no association with the history channel and i didn't think they matched very closely design wise either. some things were bound to match. they were based on the same event.

The problem with hollywood's verison of history is that your average Joe Six-Pack believes these movies to be historically true and they go forth propagating the hollywood movie as gospel.

Precisely, ZeroNine. That's why I like The History Channel so much. Another great documentary from them is "Bible Battles". It explores the Old Testament from a military perspective. Absolutely riveting!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I am with you on the love of the History Channel and A&E. I know I am officially old because I hate 99% of all TV shows. I only like the educational crap. But like some other poster said. I like some mindless spoon feed Hollywood crap from time to time as well, such 300 or Hannibal Rising.

I will look for the Bible Battles, I missed that one. I watch all of the bigger documentaries on the history channel.

yeah, television on the whole blows chunks. i am a bit of an amateur biblical historian so that special sounds pretty interesting.

yep yep.. television Sucks!

the advertising is just soooo Annoying!! even with some History Channel, A&E, National Geographic shows.. i LIKE the shows.. but Hate how they time the ads right at the most exciting parts!! ::grumble::

Our house only has cable like 3 months out of the year.. when the kids are off on summer vacation..
