Hey All. Newbie to the forums, thought this would be as good a place to start as any.
7 years and some change with the Army, 3 years as a paratrooper (All The Way) and two rotations in Iraq.
It is nice to be in a community with those who understand service, as well as the importance of the 2nd Amendment.

20 Year Air Force retired in 1994. Working as law enforcement dispatcher ever since. Bomb loader for 2 years, until messed up my knees then cross trained into airfield management. Did that for the remaining 18 years except for a 4 year stint in Japan at "The CAF", ie recon ops center at 5th AF. Enjoyed everything except the explosives loading. If it could fall off an airplane and blow up, I put it on F 4's in the Philippines.

Welcome to the yard, jon. So are you with the 82nd Airborne? FT Bragg, NC is a long way from Arkansas, so I was curious. I realize that there are other paratroopers in smaller units like Rangers and SF, but last I heard, the 82nd was the only Airborne Division left who still jump out of airplanes. The 101st uses helicopters now, right?
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Thanks Horn Dog.
The 82nd is the currently the only all Airborne division in the Army. The 101st is Air Assault (rappels from helicopters). The 18th Airborne Corps, lays claim to the title of "Airborne", but that is only becuase the are the higher command of the 82nd and not because it is an airborne unit.
It was a heck of a thrill jumping out of perfectly good airplanes while still in flight...but if my son or daughter end up serving in an airborne unit I hope to God they don't call me BEFORE a jump like I used to do with my folks.
For those thinking about joining remember: always call your loved ones after you do something potentially dangerous, NOT before. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Against my Fathers protests, I am enlisting in the Army right out of high school. I'm going for the big ones, professional soldier.
Thank you all for your service, I hope to pay you back.
