just wondering, (because I'm pretty sure it makes a big difference) do you mean convex grind? or convex edge???

Well I'm not sure... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paperbag.gif" alt="" />. I just received my first busse, a custom batac .275 and was a little disappointed in how it cut. Right now its sharp, but I can tell it needs work.

What would you guys recommend, a full grind or a convex edge? I will be using it in brasil to cut mostly vegetation. We grow mainly eucalyptus and sugar cane. I carry a Collins & Co. machete for the large stuff and a fixed blade knife for everything smaller.

I want what ever is going to get the most out of the knife.

Thanks for the info <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />.

Your BATAC will perform just fine with just a good convex edge. The full convex grinds I have done and that Busse and Bark River do are almost "competition" ideal, but are not necessary for very good cutting and chopping performance. People have been using knives with flat grinds, hollow grinds, and saber grinds for centuries. Just get it nice and sharp.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Either way, thinning the ege is going to make your busse cut better.
neither a flat grind (with maybe a high convex edge) or convex grind is "better" than another.
they're just different.
I like convex personally.
