Has anyone tried Survival Sheath with their custom kydex insert for the cordura sheath? Any feedback?

spec ops makes or made a "survival sheath" maybe you are talking about the same thing? I think the only real difference was the outside face of the sheath where the pouch is.

Here is a link to the company website. I believe the codura sheath is made by spec-ops but the insert is custom made by the survival sheath company.

they sure seem enthusiastic about shoulder rigs. I thought you could thermoform the liners that already come with the spec ops sheaths. I'm sure several people on here would know for sure though.

I just got one about a month ago for my birthday, the 6". it holds a DMDC or RMD just fine the way it is. It will take the SJTAC too but not very willingly. I was thinking about working on it but I want to decide which blade I'll be keeping in it for sure before I reform it.

Hmmm...I'm not sure about being able to thermoform them. Maybe Rainwalker would be able to custom form the spec-ops sheath to the SOD. If that were possible, I'd rather give business to one of the forum members. I've never done business with Rainwalker but from what everyone says/is saying, he is on the "good guy" list. What say you Rainwalker?

What say you Rainwalker? It's hard to say for absolute sure how it'll work until we actually have the SOD's in hand, but I've made some custom kydex sleeves for Spec-Ops sheaths before for other blades that worked out pretty well. I'd say it can most likely be done. The sleeves that come with the Spec-Ops aren't the best material to work with to try and reform, so a custom kydex sleeve would probably be better, although it's not at all impossible, and some have modified the stock sleeve to work for some blades.

Sweet, that's good news. I'll be standing by and hopefully the SOD will be able to fit in the spec-ops sheath. If so, put me in line for a custom liner <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

One problem though Poi Dog... I really don't deal with Spec-Ops sheaths much at all, and I have no need for them personally, so I don't own any. I'll be glad to help if I can, but someone will have to send me a Spec-Ops. Unless I get enough interest to justify me getting one. I've got quite a few that want leather or kydex pants for the SOD, but until now none needing a custom Spec-Ops sleeve made for it.

yeah I'd say if you are going to get anything from Jeff, just have him do the whole thing. He can set it up however you want and if you're mainly just interested in the pouch, I'm sure he can take care of you just as good or much better. I think there's a few pics on here of sheaths he's made with detachable pouches.
