Jeff - thanks for posting the other sheathmakers' addresses. It should be pointed out to newer folks that the Busse Companies do NOT specifically recommend one maker over the other in trying to be fair. That is up to the sheath CUSTOMERS - we Dogs - to personally recommend someone. I don't think I have heard a complaint about any sheathmaker mentioned on the forum, something I am happy and proud to point out.

Mink Oil, Neetsfoot Oil, or Saddle Soap are good for reconditioning. There's a few others, but those are the one's I have experience with.

A big +1 on the Mink oil; I use it for all my leather, and it hasn't failed me yet.

I have seen his work and it is very nice but will they hold up over the long haul? I am not looking for something that looks great in a safe or might be used on a trail once a year.

Welcome to the Yard charger02

Jeff/Rainwalker not only makes Art but he makes users, something you can take outside and trust and use. Lookers or Simple

He prides himself not only in how they look but in "QUALITY" and making us happy with not only his craftsmanship but his attention to the little things and usability.

We have many good makers here and at other places, but I have never known anybody who puts more into a sheath than Jeff.

I trust/rely on RainWalkers work as much as I do my BusseKin blades because he is also a stand up guy who stands behind his work. If you ever have any problems, he will fix it/change it, whether it's from his end or not!

That is something that is very important to me and not seen much anymore.
So to answer your question, IMHO RainWalker's sheath will hold up as much as any Leather sheath out there, and then some...

One of the things I've noticed about getting older is it takes a hell of a lot to impress me anymore. In the last three years I gone to Vegas for the first time and on a criuse for the first time. While both were fun neither trip was as great as everyone described them as being. I'm sure if I would have gone in my 20's I would have been impressed.

In the last year I have purchased six sheaths from Rainwalker (3 leather, 3 kydex) with a seventh on order (leather for the SOD). The man makes an impressive product at a reasonable price. Besides that he's one of "us"

And he is open to any ideas that you may have and can accomodate any carry style you prefer.

Rainwalker is definitely the guy to get in touch with.
