I can see the point of banning cheap swords.. But who'd pay good money for a weapon to use illegally- then have to dispose of? Crims use Stanley knives and kitchen knives not Busse Combat, same applies to swords imho!
Sorry to hear your practice swords may get taken, dumb dumb dumb..

agreed, i was really surprised to see the #'s compared to A2 & D2 tool steels!
i mean i saw some knife the other day with "A2 Tool Steel" all written in large obnoxious font across the Entire blade.. i mean decent steel sure.. but talk about Tacky!
whereas Dan's blades.. nothing but coating and sharp edge..
all function.. none of that slick sales pitch crap..

hey sorry to hijack a good htread about sr77 .. just a final point . if you already posess a sword you can keep it ... if & when any laws come into effect they will only stop us buying/trading/making those swords... same as with autos or push daggers & asp batons etc cheers and come on Dan, make us Brits a katana whilst we can still legally buy one .. ug <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Well, so far SR77 is 4 and 0. Myself, my father(Mechanic ~35 years), mechanic in town (~35 years) and a welder in town (~35 years). None of us could believe what SYK has wrung out of the SR77. The actual comments when I told them the claims were all along the lines of "If you get the knive to bend, wear safety glasses and watch out for shrapnel! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I hope Dan stickies the testing thread and all future testing threads like it. That thread really tells the "why Scrapyard Knives" (and the DF in particular) story in a credible manner and without hyperbole.
