I love .22's, I have an old lever action my grandpa gave me and it shoots great. You can shoot them all day long for cheap and your shoulder doesn't get sore either.

sometimes I wish ammo price would come down like gas price is doing...so I can bring out the others more...but as for now, the .22LR is still the weapon of choice at the range.

Here's another question regarding your shooting .22s.... what do you use for sighting? I'm using adjustable iron sights and peep sights on my three .22s; what about the rest of you?

I have more rimfire pistols and rifles than I care to admit. Everyone should own at least one good .22 rifle and pistol.
I too also the love 10/22. Lightweight, accurate, fun, and reliable. The stock barrels are plenty accurate. It is the sporter chambers that are cut into them that kill their matchgrade accuracy. But then again the factory barrel will eat up all 22 ammo (Cheap Bulk Stuff and Match Stuff) without any problems. A decent gunsmith can easily turn down the breech face and recut a tighter match, bentz, supamatch, etc.. chamber. A reworked barrel can easily match the accuracy of alot of the aftermarket barrels.

I converted a 10/22 to 17HM2 and it is very fun and accurate out to 100yds. Minute of ground squirrel and good out to about 150yds or so.

Green Mountain also makes a sporter profile aftermarket barrel if you don't want to change the stock.

Personally, I prefer a reworked factory barrel because I get to keep the iron sights as a backup to my scope.

If you are chasing the the one holers in your 10/22 then look into the Rimfire Technologies Barrel. It is superbly accurate. The only down sideside is that it may have problems chambering the bulk stuff. But if you are chasing one holers then you wouldn't be shooting the bulk stuff anyway.

very informative BAN here is a couple of pics of mine... ![[Linked Image from img91.imageshack.us]](http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/1286/img5411nv5.jpg) ![[Linked Image from img171.imageshack.us]](http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/9601/img5412jr1.jpg) The scope and rings are the wal-mark cheapo. Shoots ok once they are zero in. Only problem is they don't keep their zero all that well.

Has anyone tried the Henry youth .22? I'm looking to make a purchase on one as my son's first rifle. I'm mainly looking at a bolt action that is acurate, won't break the bank, and will fit my son.

The .22 LR is arguably the best handgun sport caliber around, so of course I own one Browning BuckMark Target ![[Linked Image from farm3.static.flickr.com]](http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2310/2229930543_6b67ef0588_o.jpg)

My .22's are a CZ 453 American and a Buckmark Splash. The Splash is 5.5" black with a wierd golden marble-painted look. Its kinda girly but I like it plus that's one of the main reasons I got it. Its something I can much more easily talk girls into shooting.
If you want a youth bolt 22 I would definitely recommend the youth version of the CZ 452. Its a lot more solid than most of the competition, still very reasonably priced, and they won't grow out of it nearly as fast.

Thank you for the recommend ! I took a look at it and was concerned with the rear sight. I was comparing it (from what I could see from pics) to the Henry rear sight and the Henry looks to be much for kid proof/friendly and solid. Any feedback about the CZ sight?

mine doesn't have sights, but I have a Gun Tests article reviewing 4 youth 22s. I'll have to unpack it but I'm pretty sure I know where it is. I think it was the CZ, Henry, Chipmonk, and I can't remember what the other one was. I'll try to fimd it when I get off work in the morning.
