mine doesn't have sights, but I have a Gun Tests article reviewing 4 youth 22s. I'll have to unpack it but I'm pretty sure I know where it is. I think it was the CZ, Henry, Chipmonk, and I can't remember what the other one was. I'll try to fimd it when I get off work in the morning.

Thank you darkaether, much appreciated I let my Gun Tests subscription laps years ago. I look forward to what they said.

Henry: light, fiberoptic sights easiest to see, easy to operate bolt handle, reasonable pull wight to [censored] bolt, 1.5# trigger clean and consistent. "buy it"

Savage: youth testers liked the Mini Bolt better. sights and trigger were biggest issues "don't buy"

Chipmunk: youth testers called it a "kiddie gun" small all over, cramped for older kids "Don't buy"

CZ: good trigger, well made, accurate. Didn't do everything we wanted though, good for valuable experience. "Our Pick"

more on the CZ - no checkering on the walnut stock (I could have sworn this model was beechwood) 4 pounds, trigger guard roomy enough for adult fingers, standard size bolt head, flawlessly finished and tightly fitted, crisp 4# trigger, not floated, 12" length of pull, dovetailed for scope rings

Most people like their .22 delivered one aimed shot at a time. I favor a more... liberal approach: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_180

(no, haven't got one)

darkaether,
Thank you for looking up and posting the results I'll look further into the Henry and CZ. I have a question about the article but I'm not sure it may have stated further. In the final assesment of the CZ (I take it that that is what you posted), gun tests says that the CZ "didn't do everything we wanted...good for valuable experience." What exactly was it that the tester(s) wanted the CZ to do? Thanks for helping with my research!

the only thing they really say is that the stock is slippery when wet and something about the safety being hard to apply.

The safety on mine is normal, and my bolt should be identical.

They also mention that it is a little heavier (4.0#) with a longer length of pull than the others (12") and for very small or young kids, it could be too long.

I think that it feels more like a real rifle so they judged it more like a real rifle even though none of them were tested that way. "didn't do everything we want" like what? bring you a beer? cancel your appointments?

It was a wierd thing to say. They still gave it the higher rating. I think they just meant something more like it isn't perfect.

LOL, I got a good laugh from your reponse. That really is a wierd thing to say, especially since they didn't explain what it was that they were expecting it to do.

Did the review happen to have the LOP for the Henry?

Henry LOP is 11.5" The one they tested is single shot. I don't know if they all are or not.

The CZ is magazine fed but they make a "blank magazine insert" that goes in place of the magazine as a single-shot feed ramp.
