will some be thicker and some be thinner like the Busse knives are?

probably not but the LE will be lighter because of the higher grind.

I don't have any SY knives at the moment but got a few busse blades and there can be quite a difference in thickness on the same model.

Busse blades usually come in different thickness, which ones are you talking about?

They could make skinny and fatty SODs down the line, but all the ones in the current batch should be a quarter inch like stated. There could be some ganzas or show specials like knob creek (or was it blade west?) where they could make variations not spoken of, like the full flat DFCG and full flat DMCG. I think they were just leftover DFLE and DMDC coated. But most the stuff directly from the store should be whatever thickness is stated.

If you take the FBM it is suppose to be .25" right? but not always, you might get a .260 FBM or you might get a .23" FBM.

I don't know if scrapyard knives are the same or are they different than Busse and all their knives of the same model are the exact thickness of each other(not counting the LEs)?

I'd say variances will be similar. I'll also say that different color coatings aren't always the same thickness so the differences you are seeing may be the coating instead of the actual steel.

In my experience Scrappers are usually pretty consistent on thickness, however I'm sure there can be a slight variance on anything.

I'm sure there are slight variations from run to run, like SRs old RMD and the last sage one that was at the store, but within a single run, I'd think they'd be all consistent. Future runs could be slightly different depending on the bar stock, since Busse kin knives pretty much slap bar stock into a CNC machine and the software saves all the spec for each knife and just cuts them out.

Wait, was the last RMD thinner than the first run? Just wondering because I got one of the most recent ones from the Rat store.

I don't remember anyone mentioning if it was thicker or thinner, just that the tip was thicker. I remember people selling kydex for it saying it'd only fit the latest RMD from the store. I'm trying to dig up the thread somewhere that had pictures side by side, can't remember if it's on here, BF, or SR forums.

The main difference that I know of is that the latest version didn't have the swedge grind on the top of the clip. Other than that they're the same as far as I know. I think Vic may have both maybe he can tell us.

What's +/- .01-.02" among friends? Why does it matter? It won't make any appreciable difference in the performance of the product.
