Out and about in where I'm likely to brush up against pokey or prickly things I wear either mountain hardware "canyon" pants, or Carhartt Cargo Pants. The Carhartts are cotton so i dont take them in wet weather. I really like the underarmor synthetic sweat pants if I'm going on a trail.

I wanted to experiment laying pants but ive never had much luck with that. it just kinda feels funny and awkward. I do wear gym shorts under them sometimes however.
