Thanks Scotty- I will also add that SY has the best forum on the web- most friendly and knowledgeable people and probaly the most active. You can come here and learn- complain a bit- express your opinions and everybody gets along. Plus- we have great Mods !! Big " Thumbs Up " on that

A Big Plus One!!!

Thanks ordawg! I forgot about the forum. I too look foward to hanging out here talking with you guys about Scrap Yard blades and anything else that happens to come up. If it were not for this forum, and all the different threads I would not have as much information as I do now. The Yard is a GREAT place to visit, and spend time chatting with people who share a common interest!

My BK9 went up on Ebay shortly after my SOD arrived. Not much else to say.

I really did not start this thread with the intent of people getting worked up, or to disparage any knife companies. I was ignorant whether a BK9 could outchop a SOD. I have my results, and am happy I have both knives. It is not a fair fight as in apples to apples, so it is no big deal.

We buy knives for a lot of reasons. There are so many designs and steels, it keeps things interesting. I actually want a Dog Father more then a Battle Mistress....and I can not explain why,,, I just love my SOD and my appreciation really has little to do with real world performance. I am sure it would be wonderful, but that is not what makes me appreciate it in it's entireity. I realize that a Battle Mistress will defeat the Dog Father in all areas with maybe the exception being lateral strength....but I don't care. I am never going to break either.

So anyway....lets have peace my brothers, and let us get back to appeciating good steel and helping each other to justify purchasing more and helping each other convince our wives that we need them.

Back to the fun

I would get a Becker but the ones around here are just not worth the asking price compared to a SY. I might pick one up sometime if the price is right so I can have an example of it.

That has always been the main appeal of Beckers. They are affordable. They give a lot of performance for the money, and I like mine. But they are not quite up to Scrap Yard Knives in toughness.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

We were already worked up.

The Yard is a very wonderful and passionate place. A disagreement here and there is normal, but the camaraderie here is second to none. That's what keeps us here and the passion alive. Why, I'd rather disagree nowhere else.
