Darn, I never thought about that, Jeff. I like the idea of a bottle opener on the knife. I'm still going to get one and see if I like it. I still think a good folder like the SAK OHT is a more useful knife than any necker. The 1095 version is definately worth checking out. I wrapped my handles, that helps on the comfort. The bottle opener sounds like a good idea, but I'm not convinced that it's worth the trade off on comfort. I'd never go anywhere without a good folder either.

For anyone that may be concerned about where the Beckers are made, if they say "Made in the USA," they have to be pretty much completely made in the USA, not just assembled in the USA. I found this out on a government website, so I'm pretty sure the Beckers (other than the San Mai Neckers) are made in the USA. How they compare to SY's, I'm not sure. To me, Beckers have seemed more like good quality mass produced knives at affordable prices, not up to the SY standards of toughness, though.

Maybe because it costs twice what a SoD does and it's not twice the knife?

I'm not sure how people feel about Noss's test site, but I watched the videos he did on the BK9 and the Scrapper6. I was really surprised that the BK9 didn't do so well on the tests. I thought it would do better. Also was surprised that the Scrapper did as well as it did. That was what sold me on the toughness of the knives that Scrapyard makes.
Cheers

A site has the BK9 for $64..... Not bad eh?
You see this is much of my dilemna..... I did not think I could even get a Scrap Yard knife..... Thought they were out of production until recently and am pleasantly suprised. Before hand, I was pretty locked into a Becker BK7 or BK9 as they were to come online soon...Then I was loving the idea of a Ranger RD9 and saw they were coming out soon....I wanted both...Enter the SY SOD.... AHHHHHHHHHHHH! You understand don't you? :-)
I need.... a SOD. But do I need the Becker now as they may be very close... or at least I am trying to conclude I don't need the BK 9 if I get the SOD. I still think I might need Afghan or a big RD knife as I want one of Justins knives..... But again, so much crossover. I am sure I will get more then one, but I a have already spend about $350 on knives this month alone. Yikes! The worst of it is, I don't even have a Busse after such expenditure!
I love all your help my brothers, thank you! AI

bld522 I think we owe it to ourselves to have at least one of each! :-)
What do you think of your RD7? Did you have him work the blade so it was more of a cutter then the normal factory setup? I was looking at the soon to be released Ranger Night Stalker. Looks like the RD's with a bit of a different blade shape...looks like a better chopper to me with what "appears" to be an downward sweep of the blade on the last third near the tip.
What is really scary is.... Justin said he submitted over a dozen new designs to Ontario... Yikes! Ethan also has several new knives in the works... and... I imagine after we receive our SOD's there will be an anouncment of a new knife... These are exciting and expensive times. I mean really has there been a more exciting time for quality knife companies, releases, and overall quality knives available at one time? :-) AI

I have enough Scrap Yard DFs/SoDs (well, they're on order anyway) that I certainly don't have any need for a BK9, so why do I keep looking at them?
