RW, That black SARSquatch pouch sheath looks really nice. I like the ambidextrous style, 'cause I'm a lefty

I was referring to Jeff's work in general, not to the Rowe sheath. It IS beautiful as well.

Note: cool I figured it out. I'm sure something kinda like that could be done in kydex... That might be quite interesting and maybe challenging too.

Question for Jeff. Have you ever done any kydex that didnt rely on presure to hold the knife in? Maybe a web loop for the belt loop with a strap of some type as retention for the knife. Hope i didnt confuse ya.

Hope i didnt confuse ya. Huh???... Just kidding, I got it, I think... One of the advantages to kydex is the ability to retain the knife using the formed kydex, however I have made kydex inserts for both leather and nylon sheaths that didn't rely on the kydex for retention. and I have made a few kydex sheaths with a retainer strap too, although those also relied on the kydex a little for retention for added security and to hold the knife in place. The tricky part would be making sure the the sheath and retention are set up in such a way so that the knife doesn't rattle around or bounce up and down in the sheath. It can be done, it's just not the common practice primarily because most users like not having to have a retention strap that at times can get in the way. That's one of the reasons I have kinda grown to like a well designed leather pouch style. It gives you a kydex like retention, without the noise or scratchiness of kydex.

Hey, Bear...I've already asked Jeff about the scrap yard dog being stamped on a sheath I have ordered and he told me that Dan, the Boss Dog, is the only one that can have the logo. Dan, if you're listening, how bout authorizing Jeff to print the Dog on some leather!

Dan, if you're listening, how bout authorizing Jeff to print the Dog on some leather! I'm glad you passed that info along. Also I don't think it would really be in Dan's/Scrap Yard's best interest to let any one sheath maker use the logo, so I think I can say with a slight degree of certainty that it's probably not gunna happen. I did tool & paint the Scrap Yard logo on one sheath and key fob for Dan and Patty as gifts back in 2007, but other than that I steer clear of using Dan's logo. I have tooled Paws and other Dog related stuff on sheaths though.
