I was approved as JimBoar last May; at the time, I had 33 BCs (on which I'd spent $9126.90, exclusive of shipping). Now, my spreadsheet shows 56 BCs (including 3 VetDayGanzaaa FSH that haven't shipped yet, for a total of $16,729.90). Let this be a warning to those who have not yet drunk of the Kool-aid -- it gets expensive.

There's a Busse Combat "Ganza-style" sale of Special Forces Natural Outlaw Limited Edition knives on BladeForums between 9:30 and 9:55 PM (EST) on Thursday. Only people who are approved as "Hogs" may participate. I'm a Hog, but I was offended by some of the more long-time Hogs saying that those approved online vs in-person are "second class" members of the club. It's not the first time I've heard that argument, and it makes me a little angrier each time I read it, so this thread had two themes.
1) What do folks think of the knife? -- Are they going to try to get one, and
2) Why are the cranky old-timers being mean, which seems a bit whiny of me at the moment?

It's only natural that the members of an exclusive club would wish it to remain as exclusive (small) as possible. It keeps the "value" of their credential as a member high. One of ten sounds much more impressive than one of fifty or a hundred.

Of course, just because it's easy to understand doesn't make it appropriate or relevant.

Tom, I couldn't agree more that the Yard has a different and generally much more supportive character. That's not to say there aren't occasional discussions that heat up to a boil, but folks are generally much friendlier here than in other groups.
