I snagged a genset from Costco. Haven't had the need to use it yet, so have left
it in the box. Going to break it out over the weekend and get it prepped for
service if needed.
Man, snow and freezing rain are just about the worst conditions for winter other
than blizzard or avalanche. I hope that things hold together for you over
Christmas.

Definitely get that beastie unboxed and going. Not only to make sure it's mechanically fit, but also to familiarize yourself with it. It's a lot easier to figure things out on a nice warm/dry day! I've caught myself twice now trying to start our genny with the master switch turned off (hint: it doesn't go).

I've got a genny that was my dads and it's been sitting in the barn where it's dry since he passed back in 2004. Power was restored this morning at around 05:00. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> The disaster is over! (For us). The survivors return home victorious!

... And find a whole lot of snow that moved in overnight and now needs to be cleared. Bother.
