Decent blade, surpassed my expactations especially for the price. I'm thinking the SOD will blow it away though.

One real world test/chore I did was prying through a dry and rotted out stump. Problem is the thin part of the tip would bend and even though I can hammer it back to shape I consider it a flaw. The rest of the blade is fine but I wonder how the SOD's tip will hold up when prying.

I would also like to see a thrust test. Penetration from a forward thrust should an encounter with a creature/person happen. No doubt these tool steels are tough, but how well can they go through clothing/hide+flesh+bone? On a single thrust? Will it get stuck?

i think i might have a few stumps on our land. we just recently cleaned it all up to put our nursery stock in. ill note that one. thanks!

there are wild pigs near our place but i eat what i kill and ive seen what those beasts eat....no thank you. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />


although i might be able to get some hunters to let me stab their pig (after its dead)....not trying to sound morbid but just brainstorming

i could also buy some ribs beef and pork and chop them up. im pretty sure if i stab it it will penetrate. i could also suspend it in the air and hack at it (no reference too dan <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> ) thanks orgawg!

I've also seen phone books used for penetration testing. As for the flak jacket, hahaha! I didn't mean primal testing techniques-different forum! I was thing more along the lines of ballistics gel wrapped in cloth/nylon a la mythbusters style.
