Tri-pod, light-box, and take lots and lots and lots of pictures until you get good at it.

I had it on a tripod, also had it on the Macro setting.
No flash.
Was using an improvised light box with white trash bag
as the light diffuser.
Just looked at these pics on my desktop computer with a real monitor
and I do see they arent very "sharp and crisp".
Hum,dont know what went wrong.
The knifes were about 6 inches away from the camera.
I set it to timer and then let it take the shot,so
movement isnt part of the problem that I can see.
Well,I will fool around again today, see what I can do.
I also noticed I cant get in close on the edge like I see
some of you guys do.
Are you zooming in all the way on the edge,or
taking the shot, then looking at the photo in actual size
and cutting that part out and saving it as a seperate picture?

Nice Pics, FuGaWee. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Here's something interesting that my wife got me for Christmas. It's a Photo Studio in a Box.

[Linked Image from i150.photobucket.com]

Comes with a fold up light box, Lights, a Tripod, and carrying case. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> It's not the best, and the box is a little limited on size, but it may just come in handy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Nice studio RainWalker.
Kinda funny,for a lightbox,I used one
of these folding hampers my wife bought,
Looks just like yours,except bigger.
I covered it with a white garbage bag.
Inside,for the backround,I laid a piece of
12X24 Kydex that I havent
started playing with yet.

Ok,fooled around a little more...
This time I added a 250watt halogen worklight
on the left side of my lightbox, along with the 75watt
bulb on the right side.
I changed the ISO setting to 100 as well.

To me,they look better.
But still seems they arent really "sharp".
This camera doesnt have a way to manually focus it.
I did have it on the "macro" setting.
I dunno, might be time for me to get a Polaroid Instamatic!

Just went back and compared the set of shots from before
to these last ones...
Wow,what a difference!
I think that turning the ISO down to 100 did it.
It was set to either Automatic or 1000.
Thanks P-easy for the tip!

I noticed I can see dust and stuff on the knife...
Seems the detail is better.
gonna have to watch that from now on...

No problem!

As far as how sharp your pictures look, I think they look fantastic for the camera you are using, and honestly, to get better results, you will need to upgrade to an SLR type camera. The glass in these higher end cameras will allow you to get much sharper photos.

However, keeping the ISO down at 100 made your pictures look way better!

You have a good eye for composition, and you are getting nice results.

I am looking forward to some more!

Merry Christmas everyone! Drink up!

Enjoy every sandwich.
