AK style would be ok, but I already have an AK so a different style would be really cool. But I don’t! A lot of other people also couldn’t afford an AK. The "gladius" in my photo is a Condor Combat Machete. It has a 13" blade of 3.5mm thick 420HC German steel. The handle is sanophrene. It cuts OK, but there are better machetes out there for less. I just thought it looked cool. It is lively in the hand. Only weighs about one lb. I like to stick it in trees. I don’t think I’d especially care for a SY version of that type. I want a two handed sword. Something that size is too short I think. It’s not that much bigger than the DF.

Well, it looks like most who voted would prefer a sword first by over 2 to 1. So what kind should it be?

Go with a 15 or 20" long Wharncliffe style sabre-parang shortsword, it'll cut like a Katana and the tip being in line with the edge won't skip off stuff without cutting in..

Old Viking Design <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> I've built and tested one and yep that tip doesn't skip at all.
