I really think Swamp Rat should re-release the Ratweiler! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

I have little doubt that it would be a big hit all over again! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I know I'd want a few of them!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

So I know how the handle of a Dogfather compares to a Weiler, but what about the SOD, is it the same as the DF?

Nice pants for the Ratweiler!

Martin made the sheath, it has a kydex liner which is molded around the Weiler. Very tight fit, you don't need the retention loop. Just keep in mind it is meant for "users" because the kydex will scratch the coating. In this case the knife is stripped anyways so it doesn't matter.

Yep, same handle. The SOD is basically a 7.5 inch DF. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Same handle for sure but I can't figure out why it feels so different ? I like it better than my DF and my LE is not even here yet. Go figure ?

the SOD is great but i love my CW more.

the shape of both of the weilers, old and new have probably always been my favorite looking knives of all time.

i would also much rather have diff. heat treated 52100 than S7 and i like micarta better than res-c.

also,i think that for a combat/tactical blade that its really important to have the tang protrude out the bottom of the knife handle like full tang slab handle knives have to use for striking/breaking material objects whether they be steel, concrete or whatever.

i wouldnt mind seeing some scrapyard knives in the future with micarta or g10 slabs.

i know its all about price to performance but i think the performance of a full tang slab handled scrapper would far out weigh the added price.

and while that res-c is tough for a rubber like material it does wear down and is susceptible to tears/cuts.

mixing SR77 with micara or g10 would make one of the all around toughest blades ever.

Well ordawg1, I gotta disagree with you on liking the SOD better than the DF, of course I only have a DFLE and not a CGDF so that may be the difference. My DFLE is one of the best feeling choppers I have ever held in my hand.
