Kydex is horrible for a good lasting finish on any precious blade. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbdn.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />

Leather is ALWAYS the way to go! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Only slightly more expensive and lasts a lifetime plus! You no doubt have seen plenty of leather sheaths posted here in The Yard. Your design and involvement in design open up a whole new world of possibilities for a high quality sheath. It is always worth another 20-40 bucks for leather to grace your most prised blades. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I am by no means a rich man but I always insist on leather for my fine blades. It just makes more sense. You end up with a one of a kind sheath that brings you joy and pride to wear. And also enhances the visible presentation of your best blades when worn in public or when working or playing with other knife knutz! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Demand LEATHER! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Make no mistake, kydex definitely has it's place. Leather is definitely not best for all situations. Of course that's my opinion, and I can tell you that nobody likes leather more than me. Especially Rainwalker leather <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />!

The previous is only my opinion and is defiantly a endorsement for Rainwalker Sheaths. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Peace.

Endorsements for Rainwalker are always a good thing <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />!

the answer to your ? is simple.

Yes, they always do.

Henceforth, I never carry my knives in kydex. I have a tactical kydex sheath from Greg Okuden that I had made for my Busse Nuclear Ice Pick a while back and I havent seen wear on the NIP.... Pretty odd now that I think about it... But either way, who cares, SR77 and INFI are not hurt in terms of strength when it comes to this... It is purely cosmetic as Andy Wayne once told me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

On some of my older Kydex lined Cordura sheathes the only point where there was any retention was on the 1/2" or so of the tip of the blade. When you were using the blade and slipped it back in the sheath it wasn't held very tightly allowing for easy withdrawal during repetitive cutting tasks and when you finally sunk it all the way in it held the blade securely. It only left a mark on the tip.

If you're not pissed off you're not paying attention.
