I like that the advance notice allows me to get funds together before-hand.

I'd think that 4-6 weeks in the company store would be long enough for most folks to get their funds together. But yeah, I can see how every little bit of time could help . . . especially in this economy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sad.gif" alt="" />

I do pretty much all of my purchasing via PayPal and when it comes to
transferring money into PayPal, I don't use a CC for instant transfers, but
rather do the more secure bank transfers. So here in Canada, because of the
differences in the banking system with the U.S., for me to do a funds transfer
into PayPal takes 8-10 days on average.
This is just about perfect when it comes to the pre-announcements from the Yard.
The funds will be in place (hopefully) before the knife becomes available, so
when I order, I'll send a request in to Renee, and request my JYD# 62 to be put
on it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

As Jim suggested, the idea is to avoid a close encounter in the first place. Something like this ought to get the job done:

http://www.rei.com/product/721998

They weigh a whole lot less than a shotgun and ammo, too. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I was reading in my book on Bear Attacks in Canada and a few
other places, that these bells do alert the bear to your presence.

If you are in the arctic or grizzly country, however, it is not
advisable to wear these bells, as grizzlies and polar bears consider
humans to be prey. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

One website that I was on, equated wearing a bear bell in grizzly
country to the same thing as "wearing a dinner bell". <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

If I have to be in that type of country, I'm with PK on this one.
12 gauge with alternating heavy birdshot and slugs.

Cheers

I can only see two reasons to hurry your order, Bob. The first is to get a low serial number on your knife (or possibly the same serial number as your JYD number) and the second is to get earlier delivery of your knife if the knives are delivered in batches. If neither of those matter to you, hurrying to place the order on your part is practically as unnecessary as delaying acceptance of the order on Scrap Yard's part.

Yeah, but we old dogs have been Pavlov conditioned to "buy" as soon as it comes up. We just can't help it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Kinda makes me think of how all my pets would come outta the wood work just as soon as they heard the sound of an aluminum pan hit the porch. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

But now it's us dogs comin outta the wood work! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> Like Vic said "We just can't help it!" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
