I have had my eye on some new steel bottom metal for my Remington 700, but I wanted to wait and see what SYKC was going to put out before I ordered it.....Sorry SYKC, I just called Brownells!

4 1/4" blade? 3/16" thick? 154CM? I expected much more....NO THANKS....I'll pass. I have had my eye on some new steel bottom metal for my Remington 700, but I wanted to wait and see what SYKC was going to put out before I ordered it.....Sorry SYKC, I just called Brownells! You seem to actually dislike this offering and find it disappointing, as opposed to simply not wanting one. Can I ask what you dislike about it?

Now I need study this blade and see what it is all about. Here are some websites I've found; they are reviewing Nessmuk knives made by other manufacturers, but they talk about the history of the knife and the utility of the blade shape: http://www.oldjimbo.com/survival/racquette/nessmukbydale.htmlThe blade shape and size seem to be an attempt to achieve a balance in performing multiple tasks as a field/hunting/general utility knife. While big choppers are fun, this is exactly what I NEED in a fixed-blade right now, and I feel fortunate that this happened to be what SYKCO decided to put out next. Thanks CR78 !!The more I study this- the more I like it !! How about it guys- any info on this type of blade welcome . Maybe we should start a new thread on this ? This is one very SWEEEEEET offering. Sorry if some don't agree with me. Thanks

I have to admit I like the overall design, but I think I will have to sit this one out as it just doesnt speak to me.
I LOVE the mudder grips, I really hope to see more of them.

To answer your question CR78....I'll tell you. I'm new to the yard, a "newbie" you could say. I have a collection of large heavy combat/survival type knives. Among those I have a Yard Hook and a SOD, and they are my all time favorite blades. Scrap Yard and Bussekin knives are superior to every other knife out there. I was drawn to Scrap Yard Knives because of their unwordly strength, and toughness. I was hoping for another large piece from SYKC. Not a small skinning type blade in a common steel. I have been truely changed by SYKC, in the fact that I will never buy another knife unless it is a SY, or Bussekin. So now I'll search the secondary market, and a gun show that is coming for some new Bussekin steel.

Hmmm... looks like an interesting offering. At 3/16" thick with what looks to be a full height grind, it seems that this could be a very useful "heavy duty" slicer. It looks to be a good EDC design (as someone already said). The only thing I don't care for is that it's stainless. I used to only want stainless knives and shunned anything that wasn't. Once I left my Cold Steel Carbon V SRK outside in it's sheath for a couple of weeks and realized that it barely had any rust on it, I stopped fearing the corrosion of non-stainless steels. At this point in my knife interest, I've come to realize the benefits of high carbon tool steels. For me, stainless is more of a folder type steel. I'm not saying this isn't a good knife, it's just not for me right now. Plus, I don't really have the cash to buy one at the moment and I'm really looking for a carbon steel blank to use a block of cocobolo on! For all that want this knife, good luck!

As far as Scrap Yard knives go, I much prefer 154CM steel to SR77 in the smaller offerings. Good point! For a knife this size, I don't think it needs to have the toughness to chop through cement blocks.
