I see Jerry is getting closer with a bolo design with the Marco Bolo, I wish I could get Dan to build a full size Bolo not the 7 to 8 inch style. But you gotta start somewhere.

Bring on the Bolos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Late this week, my guess is Thursday night. The official times and prices and rules, etc. haven't been posted yet.

I know, I had no plans to buy anything, but the AK, and the bolo got my attention, I will probably end up getting the Bolo if it's not way out there in price. I don't know when the Ganza is but I see a bunch of blades that I liked but I just got to keep my trigger finger off the mouse.

I'm starting to think we should have direct deposit going to Dan and Jerry's accounts and a big warehouse to store all the steel in.

Actually, Busse has made some larger bolos in the past. I'm sure some of the hogs could tell you the details.

Yes I know but I had wished he did another run of them. It would be nice if they did repeat runs from here and there.

That top one is so reminecant of the Yard Guard it's spooky. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

Nice to know I already have a "Bolo" in SR-77! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I am challenged when it comes to sharpening blades, I have heard recurves are a bit of a pain so I try to avoid them if at all possible.

You know, I was really hoping that this would've had more of the traditional curve to it. Seems Jerry straightened out the blade design a lot. I think POP is right, in that is looks more like Jerrys' version of the Yard Guard than it does a Bolo. Still a nice blade, I guess I was just hoping for more.

It does look a little like the Yard hook but the bolo tip is more rounded and Jerry's tip is a little more rounded. It's not by much but the bolos get their strength from the weight at the tip and the re curve, the more the weight and curve the better at chopping. Actually the more I look at the two, I'm actually 2nd guesing buying one and waiting for a longer one.

For all I know those Marco Bolos have 2.5" blades and 6" aol. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

That handle shape looks about like the Hack's. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> - AD or MS handle size at best. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> But the scallops at the ricasso look more like what might be on a SFNO or ASH ??????? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Still appears small in my mind for a "Bolo" - Just a recurve to me.

In any event, I WISH Jerry would post SPECS with his Ganzaaa pics!!!!!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />

Luckily, "CUSTOM" Ganzaaas are generally priced WAY high for me. So, since I am interested in a M9LE (which I can't justify or afford - even though I "WILL"), I can feel a little more at ease being able to pass on the Ganzaaaa this time.

I would LOVE an AK, but know I can't afford. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paperbag.gif" alt="" />

You know, I wasn't planning on getting anything in this Ganza, money being tight and all, and already having just ordered the M9 LE, and planning order a couple CGs when they come out...

but a couple of those are really calling my name. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

I've been hoping that AK will be in the $800-$900 range (basically 1.5 * [CG AK price]), but the more I consider it, the price tends to increase; it may well cost more than twice as much as a CG, and I don't think I can go for a $1200+ blade right now. I've been looking at it and thinking, "How should this be priced in comparison to an AA?", and I'm finding it real hard to expect that it'll be less -- it has huge a "Ooo... Ahhh..." factor, but if ever there was a safe queen AK, that's it.

Prices have been posted; the 2A (AK47) is $1397.00. I believe that's too rich for me. The 6F AK is possible at $987.00; was it a late entry, or did I miss it the first time through?

AKs were released a few years back at $587, so the 6F is $400 more. It has Black & Tan G10 handles and a satin finish; somehow, $400 for those upgrades seems fairly reasonable (which is a probably a very good indicator of how long one has been sipping the Kool-aid). Who knows, perhaps I'll show restraint -- I have two whole days to agonize over it.

Since this is, after all, a Marco Bolo thread, prices for them are $467.00 for Micarta and $497.00 for G10.

While I have a few Busse's/INFI, I typically find myself VERY safe from the "Custom" Ganzaaas. The regular Busse/INFI prices tend to be quite high in my book and push my budget hard. The Customs are just easily way out of my reach. So, far and easy out of my reach, I don't even sweat it.

I'm out as well on this Ganza, the AK's are more than I can afford right now and the Marco Bolo is a little high for what it is, it's not a full size bolo anyhow, just a modified yard hook it seems.
