Would of ordered a tan/tan from work if the shopping cart would of worked for me, instead I thought about it and ordered a Sus on Sat - little less than inch shorter blade... As for SY I believe it may be time for the "BoD":

There was a post by HD over on the Busse forum about the specs of the HG55 and one of the answers which came to light was that the blade has a depth as we say...width as you say...of 1.16 inch...which is pretty much lower than I expected allowing for a RMD having 1,6/16" depth of blade...at .25 thick this has me worried a bit on the geometry of the blade for slicing and field use...it is going to have some "radical" taper to come down from .25 to the edge in just 1,1/16 inches...has anyone ever had a knife with similar geometry to this? Something like a Fatty Game Warden or whatever?

My concerns are....will it slice well for general use...or is it more of a "V" shaped pry bar? Posted here as I think I will get a more "reasoned" response...

What was the depth of blade on the original DMCG? The thickness was .25 but not sure on blade depth? How do they work?

The HG55 will only be as deep as my F/S Dagger at the hilt...so it is definately a "fighter" style...but the one Jerry did for his father in law looked to me at least like it was designed as a general purpose hunting knife?

I think it can still cut fine. The Bark River Bravo-1 blade is only 1 1/8" tall and .21" thick with a high saber convex grind. It slices very well. That convex grind on the LE looks impressive to me. The CGs should be just fine for making those wavy french fries.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

It's pretty easy to see from the pic it's not a very tall blade. I would compare it to a SJ before I would campare it to the RMD. I think the RMD will be the better all arounder in the end.

I'm still torn whether or not I want the HG55..

Enjoy every sandwich.

As soon as I hear my CG is shipping, I'm gunna go out and get the biggest bag of potatoes I can find! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Although this may be old news, there are CG NMSFNOs in the BCS now.

Not sure what to think about the HG55 yet. Still debating whether I "need" another fighter right now given I have several SJTACs, HRs, and a ST-56.

If I get one it will have to be an LE...and I'm not sure I want to drop the bux after the big move to MT. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />
