"Flight of the Phoenix" (both versions) and "The Omega Man" fit into this category too I guess.
"The Stand" Kinda does... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Alright I thought of a couple more...
"The Mosquito Coast"
And if you like the zombie type... Dawn of the Dead (both versions) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Oh and then there's that movie that's kinda based on the "Hatchet" book series(the books about the kid that survives a plane crash in the Canadian wilderness), I can't remember the name of that one...

the answer to this thread is simple. the one movie that the ENTIRE plot is based on surviving.... CAST AWAY with Tom Hanks. Name another actor who could do that role!!!

Mel Gibson (Talented at various roles) Christopher Walken (Definitely would've done an amazing job on the crazy parts, I think!) Jack Nicholson (He would've brought something interesting to the show! LOL!) Pierce Brosnan (A loner, slowly growing a little crazy, but still being sauve and cool!) Thomas Ian Griffith (From the first Punsiher flick; mighta done okay, I think)

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> hah! I think Mr Pitt would do far better on the island than Tom Hanks liberal fat [censored]. That aside Red Dawn is another for the list. Hatchet is another.

Yes! Very different movie for Liam Neeson; never thought of him in a role like that, but he did a really good job, I thought! Definitely worth watching! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Bollocks.
Brad Pitt and Mel Gibson BOTH wouldnt come near Hanks' acting in Cast Away. Both are good actors but that role was one of the most difficult roles in modern times IMO. No dialogue but to a volleyball and somehow, you remained interested. Hats off to the "liberal fat [censored]" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> that you call Tom Hanks... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbdn.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbdn.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbdn.gif" alt="" />

lol, Tom did an amazing job - You asked to name another actor that could do that role. I believe that Mel the "Mad Max" Gibson could play the role. Not to compare movies cause you can't but Will Smith did a good job acting with a blue/green screen as well.
