We need to live vicariously through your large wallet and great assortment of steel.... I really need to ride my Harley some today, but I thought I'd compare the NMSFNO to the overall chopping winner of the giant 16 knife comparo, the Ratweiler. I will just add it to that thread. The testing never ends!

I wonder if NMSFNOs will ever be made again. After Jerry's statement about the NMFBM being a one-time deal ( Say Farewell To The NMFBM!!!!!!....), I thought that the entire "Nuclear Meltdown" series would be a limited run. However, I don't see that sort of statement for the NMSFNO: Here's when NMSFNOs go up: NMSFNO Pics!!!!.....Here's when they come down: Bid Farewell To The NMSFNO... -- Jerry states that LEs are gone forever, but does not extend that to the to CGs -- I'm not sure if it's because a shipment went to the Company Store or if there may be another run in the future. The (selfish) reason that it matters to me is because I bought another pair of SFNOs just before the Tanker grays sold out. I really didn't want to spend that much so close to Knob Creek (I was trying to rebuild savings), but was thinking that it was "now or never". Making the purchase as an investment if they were a one-time thing seems like a lot better decision that if there's potential that NMSFNOs could end up getting churned out like Game Wardens. However, for a release that I avoided ordering until they hit the Company Store because I didn't think I'd care for them at all, I like them a LOT, so even if more are made in the future, I don't think it was a terrible decision.

The NMSFNO's are all gone right? Seeing these of late is really tempting me, but I can not find them on the Busse site anymore?

The "remainders" are for sale at the Busse Company Store. The Busse Combat main site is for pre-orders, the company store sells knives that are on-hand.

Congrats on the NMSFNO, Vic! I figured you'd like it. I love mine! The hand shaped Mag handles on mine make it even sweeter! ![[Linked Image from i150.photobucket.com]](http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/rainwalker15/BusseKin7.jpg) And no I didn't pay the extra for the hand shapped handles, I actually got an extra special deal from person that was selling it right around Christmas.

Congrats on the NMSFNO Vic. I knew you would like it. Considering the sublte differences in style/shape and size, I think it might be hard to compare true apples to apples against the great Ratweiler. But, in a generic relative sense, I would think they are both comparable in that they are both among the LEADERS of their classes in over-all quality of design and performance. - Value and Bang for the Buck are subjective.
Honestly, in spite of the 100% praise of the NMSFNO that I read, I think the NMSFNO is under-rated and that is saying a lot considering like Vic said: "I haven't heard of anyone getting one that didn't like it." - For that matter, I have read a LOT of reviews and comments where people have stated how much they love the NMSFNO. Still, considering how great a knife the NMSFNO is, I would expect to read even more praise.
The earlier SFNO releases have been "grail" and coveted knives by the Hogs ever since they was first released. And while the SFNO and NMSFNO are significantly different just by the addition of an inch of INFI, I personally think I like the (MUCH cheaper) NMSFNO even more than the (WAY more expensive on the secondary market) standard SFNO.
While I will personally say the DFLE, Battle Rat, Camp Tramp and SOD are still kings in the Value / "Bang for the Buck" in their catagories, I still say to my fellow Dogs here, if you have the means, grab the NMSFNO at the current (relatively) reasonable price while you can.
Seriously, while I often have issues with the prices of Busse/INFI knives, I still own quite a few. And IMO, from a "relative" perspective, the NMSFNO is actually a "BARGAIN" (for Busse ) considering it's size and the features offered on the knife such as Meltdown treatments and convex "primary" grind.
Anyway, consider how the very nice Skinny ASH1 sells for $302 - vs. for only $25 more you get a LOT more knife with the NMSFNO.
-----
I said this before, but as MUCH as I really like the NMSFNO and I highly recommend it, I still have to recommend the Full height flat grind FSH as one of the greatest large use / chopper/camp knives of all time .
-----------------------------------
OK..... now that I have gotten the NMSFNO stuff out of the way....., let's hear more about that Kalamazoo.
In your words, how do you compare the Kalamazoo to the Delta 180? How would you rate each on a scale of 1-10?
Feel free to add this to the sharpening thread if better suited.

The new Busse NMSFNO may well be the most perfect midsized chopper I own. It kicked a little butt today in my yard, even out chopping my Ratweiler, which was the king. I like the magnum handles, too. But it is a heavy knife, although it balances very well and doesn't feel all that heavy in the hand. As far as the new Kalamazoo, I love it. It is smoother than the Delta. I would not have put my new Busse to it if I had not been confident in it.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
