While waiting for the next Scrapyard knife....


Anyone tried using Duracoat on a knife? Comes in a lot of colors and good reports as firearms finish.

Just bought an old Ranger RD-7 and looks like the original black finish was removed some how.

Should I have it coated?

Anyone do this?

If not, can someone get rid of the dings and scratches and put a new matte finish on it?

I also need some new OD Green G-10 handles to replace the black micarta.

Am I wasting my time? (This question is moot, by the way!)

I would coat it, many wouldn't and you don't "need" to but I like the extra rust resistance.

I use dura coat a lot, works pretty good and durable

Yes, it is 5160 and requires some attention.

Just need to find someone who does it. I could buy a can of OD spray paint, but doesn't seem right for a nice blade.

Have you talked to Justin about new scales? he put new scales on my RD7 for a song! make sure to talk to him first, he plays well with others! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

he also reprofiles (usually free, did mine)

I sent a message with no response, and just sent another to his email (justin@rangerknives.com). No response as yet. I have not tried to call.

I'll certainly get handles from him if I can. Is there an alternate email?

Found a few that do Duracoat. I like the WWII OD Green they have.

This fella has duracoated several things including knives so check him out.
