Great looking blade. Looks like it would be a good carry blade for around and about.

Hi Vic, congrats on the HG55 Now I know how you felt on the NMSFNO
I thought I had my order in before you did....my order number is 245307...but I have not yet been dingned on my card for payment. I did ask Amy to change my shipping addy later so maybe my order goes to the back?
As I am going to D/C the finish I don't mind having a low number...but was'nt told changing the addy etc would put the order back...still...patience IS a virtue
Does the knife feel like it could perform a utilitarian role like a RMD?

HD, congrats on the knife! I bet that is going to get a good pass through the third world grind shop and become a quick favorite. Have you used it or batoned it yet?

Hi Vic, congrats on the HG55 ...Does the knife feel like it could perform a utilitarian role like a RMD? Yes, while it is primarily a fighter, it cuts well enough. It is thick, but sharp. It looks different, but it reminds me a lot of the SOG bowie with its thick but sharp and pointed blade. I think it could skin and do some light bushcraft if required. Probably not the knife I'd choose for slicing tomatoes very thin. It is certainly more utilitarian and rugged than a Gerber Mk2 or a F-S Dagger. You will love it, Peter. This is a soldier's knife. I still don't know if it beats the Ratmandu. After all, perfection is hard to beat.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

WHOOOOOPPPIIEEE!!!!
Now THATS is a knife!!!
Man that is a super sweet design and color combo there Vic!
I hope like heck that Dan reveals his version in SR-77 and at half the price of that beauty!
Although considering it is a satin L.E. version and those beautiful scales at twice the price of a Scrapper I was a fool not to buy the INFI version.
Well done my dear friend. Very well done indeed!
Peace.

Congrats on getting the knife. It is a great looking blade. Very unique. It seems like a great knife for most situations from a BOB to a hike.

I love the fighters I guess it is that high speed low drag sleek look that draws me to them and that HG55 fits in the mix rather well.

...I guess my question to you is this. You (and others, including myself) clearly feel that the RMD is the finest 5" utility knife ever made. Are you willing to say the same thing about the HG55 as a fighter? In other words, in your opinion, is the HG55 the finest 5.5" fighter ever made? It is certainly among the finest. I think of my Al Mar SERE and SOG Bowie as fighters. Even the popular Buck 119 looks like a fighter to me. Those knives are S30V, SK-5, and 420HC. I like the INFI HG55 LE better than those. It is as pure a fighter as the SOG and as utilitarian as the Buck is. Make no mistake, I did not buy this knife to do bushcraft. I bought it because it pleases me just to hold such a well made weapon. I plan to carry this knife in the open in a leather sheath. That is legal in Georgia unless otherwise prohibited by law. It will not have that military or "tactical" look in the sheath, but this is surely a better self defense knife than any folder. Gentlemen used to carry swords, then daggers, then bowies. As firearms improved, the blades got smaller. I am not a skilled knife fighter, but am reasonably sure that in a close quarters encounter with an aggressor, I could use this knife well enough to stop an attack.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Thanks Vic I am eagerly anticipating this knife...a "comparable" review by you between it and the RMD on general tasks would be "edge of the seat" reading for me and many others I am sure It will probably be the only "competition" the RMD has for me....maybe my Woodlore as well...but I would need to pick one or the other...this and a heavy knife would be "it"for me....due to weight...and making my mind up will not be "easy"...
