If the Koster is in 3V I wouldn't worry about it. Dan is supposed to be great about taking care of any damage should it ever happen.

the steel is 52100 made by bark river. it has a very thin edge.

Mike Stewart uses many different steels for his knives, as long as they will do the job. Bark River heat treatment is also very good. If this happened doing fuzz sticks Mike would be interested to hear about it. As I said, this can happen sometimes with thin convex edges. If you are not comfortable re-profiling the edge yourself to be a little thicker you can always send it to Mike with an explanation and he will take care of it. Very good outfit, Bark River.

+1 for Bark River. Mike usually goes for cutting performance over maximum strength. Sometimes the edges get ground just a bit too thin. 52-100 is superb steel. Your Nessie can be redone with a stronger edge. I did that myself on a BRKT golok one time when the edge rolled. Never had another problem with it.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Unless you just break it in half like I did my Vest Pocket Bowie. Then send it to Mike. He is making me a new 9" bowie in 50-100B as a replacement for my 5" bowie in 1085. Seems fair to me! Bark Rivers are tough, but it varies with the model. I broke the VP Bowie batoning. I finished the job with the Gameskeeper without a problem. They aren't Scrappers.

So sorry Terry that your Barkie let you down.

I am certain that beyond all doubt the Scrap Yard Muk will NOT let you down. They are all right! It is a beast. Mine has seen EDC for a month now and it is still factory RAZOR sharp!

It have pried, chopped.picked things out with, made dreaded PB & J sandwiches and no signs of use still. What is very odd is that the satin finish still has no scratches either after all the abuse I have issued on it it shows brand new.

Have heart my old friend it will surpass your expectations.

Peace.

Vic.... nice job on that Barkie of yours!
NO ONE knows how to test a blade more than you,and you do a fantastic job always!!!

Peace.

Sometimes I forget that every knife I test isn't as tough as a Scrapper.

Scrappy, got a picture of the damaged Nessie?

Man, that sucks on the vest pocket bowie! Batoning isn't extreme use. Good thing it wasn't a true necessity situation I assume.

Edge rolls can usually be stropped right out on a kitchen steel or even the lip of a beer bottle. If the roll extends beyond the sharpened edge then you have a bigger task to get it back in shape. Pictures would help!

wow, I can't believe the vest bowie failure!
I don't think it would be fair to say it let me down. I also forget not every knife is a busse or even a cold steel. this knife probably wasn't designed for it. I have mentioned it before. I surf the web on a phone so I can't load pics. I tried to at the library but it wouldn't work because of the permissions.
