SR77 is best for the choppers, I hope this one is 154cm or maybe Dan can steal a load of SR101 from the swamp.

+1 But, 154CM is very good for a slicer.

KG, I don't have as much experience with knives but I'm trying to learn. I feel confident in SR-77 enough to take the edge thin if I so choose. Slicing ability mainly has to do with thickness and edge geometry. It might not hold as good of an edge as sr101, but it's not so "soft" that it'll quickly dull or roll, right? I don't care if it's INFI or cheap kitchen knives, a thicker edge will be stronger and thinner edge will slice better. It just seems to me that a lot of people think sr77 won't make a very good slicer and can only be used in choppers. Maybe I'm a bit bias, but when I think of scrap yard, I think of sr77 (thick or thin).

With that being said, I'll take the S5 in sr77 or 154cm. I don't mind the square choil, but I hope it isn't the full size choil straight from the DF/SOD.

Daaannnggg! At first glance I thought that is one beautiful blade like a Bravo 1 or some BRKT knife, with what looks like a full convex blade. But, I looked at most of the BRKT knives and this blade sure looks unique and burly and I've got to have one LE and one CG just like I did with the SOD!

What's wrong with 154CM, pitman?

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

My Bog Dog is 4 5/8" of blade length and the 3/8" it is missing to get to 5" is the difference in the mudder grip. If you measure from the ricasso forward I bet there is almost no difference between the Bog Dog and the Scrapper 5. The Bog Dog is one of the most under-rated Rats out there but I don't know of anyone that has one that doesn't love it. If the Scrapper 5 is similar it is a winner.

The square choil and the thumb ramp add some visual interest and I would say that the Scrapper 5 is more aesthetically pleasing than the Bog Dog. As for steel, my Bog Dog is D2 and I would guess that the 154CM, with the Busse heat treatment, would be excellent.

I'm also loving the dark tan mudder handle. I like it better than the light tan or the black.

Something else I just noticed, it appears that the S5 has a full convex grind, with a very subtle secondary bevel, and that is nicer than the full flat on the Bog Dog. Man I can't wait for this knife.

On my way home from school I got to think a little clearer (just finished my midterm) about what I said earlier and I think this would be great in 154cm. I already have the DM and SOD plus the ones I'm making are all carbon steel. I need a good scrapyard stainless to take fishing or other wet activities. Bring on the 154CM!

I don't check the Yard for a few hours and Wow!!!! that looks great, I want to see in in 3/16 and CG and wahtever is less expensive 154-CM or SR-77, I don't care.
I love the choil it looks big enough for a choked up grip, but it also has the thumb ramp for rewarward (chopping) grip.
I love it, and with tax returns and such I can moast likley get one.
