im not sure how i feel about it being sr101... i like that steel but i am a fan of sr77. i personally feel that it is just a better steel, all the way around, and costs less too is im not mistaken.

Traditionally the spread between CGs and LEs is $40.00. Quit saying that Bruce!! A knife this size shouldn't be much more than $20 upcharge for LE over CG. A $40 upcharge for satin/LE on a 10" blade is one thing. A 5" blade shouldn't be more than $20 upcharge. Now if the LE is INFI, then I guess I can see the upcharge being closer to $40. But, NOT if the LE is 154CM. .

If the CG were constructed of SR77, I'd agree with you. But because it's SR101, I've got to believe it will cost more than that.
Optimistically I'd peg the CG at $109.95, the 154CM LE at $149.95, and the INFI LE at $189.95. Optimisitic!!! Your killing me! If the DMCG was $69.95 The Yardkeeper CG was $79.95 Even in SR-101, I would hope the S5CG to be around $99.95. "HISTORICALLY" SR-101 CG with Res-C has been VERY reasonably priced!!!! Bandicoot $88.95 Howling Rat $88.95 Also, like the above two, this S5CG will be "Through" hardened which has also "Historically" been cheaper than the differentially heat treated blades. With a "REASONABLE" upgrade for satin on 154CM, I expect $119.95 for a LE in satin 154CM I would HOPE a satin LE in INFI would stay close to $149.95. .

Yeah... RS.... for your uses, SR-77 DOES make a better pry-bar...... .....Whereas SR-101 is ONLY one of the best "KNIFE" steels you can buy with some of the best qualities for a cutting tool. And since "Cutting" and edge properties don't mean anything to you, I don't see how a knife such as the S5 that is "designed" as a FINE cutting tool with FINE cutting steel would really be what you would want. And while SR-101 is generally considered VERY tough and tougher than WAY more than most of the knife steels in the industry, it still just really isn't as tough as SR-77. Sure, the S5 with SR-101 is VERY tough and still able to pry reaonably well for a "Knife" and still going to be VERY tough. But, sorry, the S5 still just doesn't seem to be a great pry-bar. I think you might just have to sit this one out. Sorry buddy.... Maybe next time... .

Interesting how Stealthy Dan FINALLY made an appearance on one of the busiest blog threads in ScrapYard forum history, on page 22 no less. Dan, if you'd done that on page 2 then we would have been better served...

Just curious, have you really abused any of your knives?? I know you always want to buy them in pristine condition and I always wonder why since it sounds like you always need the toughest knife in the world, I figure you are giving them HELL!

recon i wouldnt be worried with the lateral strength of sr101. i dont think anyone, not even Andre the Giant could bend sr101 by hand.

Believe me, KG, my credit card and I hope you're right. But I'll stick with my projections for now.
I am also rooting against your projections, no offense. I think the LE price seems high for 154CM. Pricing the Scrapper 5 at $150 would be 50% higher than the Scrapmuk (also an LE). That seems very high... I would think that it is more than $100, but would guess more the $120 range (or 119.95 in SY prices) +/- $10. I have no guesses on the CG, I don't own any SR 101 yet and did not watch their prices... I do think it is cool to offer this knife in multiple steels, although it does make it more of a both or just one decision than an LE and CG in the same steel to me...

Fair enough. I am just hoping/thinking that the steel difference has to play a factor in the pricing strategy. We could see the same or close to the same price based on the steels. Has 2 different steels for the same knife ever been offered before?
