RMD vs DM, the tool should fit the function:
- As an entry tool I would pick the DM, no question - For cutting/slicing I would pick the RMD, no question

I have been thinking about a RMD but with the S5 pending release that idea might hit the back burner. I am really digging the S5. I'd recommend you stop thinking and buy the S5 CG! In fact, if you're willing to pay the current market price for a RatManDu, I'd suggest you buy two S5 CGs . . . one to put up and one to use. I'm telling you, the S5 CG in SR101 . . . like it's predecessor, the RatManDu . . . is destined to become a grail knife. Mark my words . . . + ONE MEEEEELLION Buy and RMD later for sure. It is and will always be a GREAT & Classic "KNIFE".... (as opposed to a sharpened PRY-BAR ). But, you are dealing with secondary market on it now anyway. BUY the S5 from the shop before it is WAY high marked up on the secondary. For reference, the similar Bog Dog initially sold for $78.95 (I HOPE the S5 stays similar in pricing!!! ). But, anyway, I have seen the Bog Dog sell for over $300 on multiple occassions. Although, it is down some into the $200 - $250 range for the last few I saw sell. **** The Bog Dogs are RARE and HARD to come by. I assume people don't want to sell them. .

Bruce, well said.. I just like throwing the DMCG up against 5 inchers. But you are right, in terms of cutting tasks, the Ratmandu is better. However, ironically, I have a pretty good edge on my DMCG.

I have a pretty good edge on my DMCG Both SR77 and SR101 will take a good edge, the difference is that SR101 will keep that good edge much longer. I'm not trashing SR77 as a great steel, I just prefer it for uses where its superior toughness really shines through.
