I will laugh quite a lot if the green linen SAR 4 turns out to be a hoax. I also won't be the least bit surprised. I wonder just how far Jerry can go with these goofy games before he actually starts to lose customers.
I'm not a big fan of all the silliness, but the knives have a reputation, and I will judge based on the product (should be getting my first blade from the swamp tomorrow).
I certainly don't see myself ever wasting an evening hitting f5 just to buy a knife, but who knows....

I hope it is not a hoax, time will tell.
Rainwalker, I love that SAR family portrait. The SAR5 is looking good in that pic.

I saw a thread on BF/Busse section last night where a couple of SAR members were talking about the knife. They didn't have a lot of love for it as a user for them. But, seems like they are all toting an Ash or bigger knife anyway. Lots of people have talked about this thread. I just can't find it, no matter how much time I've wasted browsing the Busse forum. Can anybody provide a topic name, or a link?

Here you go guys. Sarsquatch, SAR4, SAR5 and SAR Warden. For the real world of search and rescue, especially in thickly wooded areas, the SARsquatch looks like the one to have. Nice picture. I like the SAR5 more than the SAR4. The SAR4 looks handle heavy to me. They all look good. It would be nice to actually pick them up and get the feel of them before purchasing. I never can tell if I really like a knife until I handle it.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Hi Vic,
I just picked mine up this evening from the depot...£73.00 in duty charges...but it was worth it. I think this would be one you would like.
The knife is no way as handle heavy as the BATAC LE felt and at .22 thickness feels just that bit more "substantial" than the 3/16 thickness on other Busse blades I have such as the Jackhammer or SJTAC.
The size of the handle was a worry for me but having it "in hand" the increase in depth towards the pommel is not as negative a point as I imagined on creating a handle heavy effect. The way this works is to offer protection to your fingers if using the pommel to "hammer".
The increased depth acts like a birds beak type pommel in so far as if you took a straight line vertically from the base of the pommel when hammering it would pass below your fingers wrapped round the grip...so if you missed a strike with the pommel you would not catch your fingers....BUT...unlike with a birds beak pommel which can cause pinky bite when chopping you can get a very solid grip on the back end of the grip for chopping...much better than the TAC design of grip affords...and using a tight three finger grip ( leaving the pinky finger off the handle ) you have a knife with considerable chopping ability for a 5 inch blade.
I would say that the .220 thickness blade makes the knife feel comparable to a 7 inch blade when held this far back...probably similar to the Sarsquatch although I have'nt got one...but from my knives it is more effective than my Jackhammer or SJTAC in this type of grip and not quite at the level of weighty feel the SFNO LE gives using a standard grip....but that knife has a hefty sabre grind blade.
All told this knife is a different species to a RMD....this chopping ability puts it into the ASH LE type category....more than a Skinny Ash...not quite as much as an Ash CG...the satin finish makes it perfect for food prep as it is very easy to see that the blade is clean...and it comes razor sharp with a nice convex grind which does not feel too thick for slicing.
I have shooting comps all weekend but will try to get some pics done and give it a comparable review with knives such as the RMD and my 3B2 and JH. Might throw in a Bushcrafter as well. I have very good first impressions though....

Sounds like the SAR4 is a little beast, Peter. I just could not warm up to my BATAC and sold it. Speaking of shooting, I bought a Marlin 917VS in 17 HMR today. Couldn't afford the CZ or Ruger. I put my Weaver 4-16 x 42AO on it and took it to the range. I was able to get 1 5/8" @ 100m in 20 mph winds. I zeroed at 40m and only had to go up about 1 moa at 100m. Pretty flat for a rimfire, eh?Terrible trigger. A poor man's sniper rifle for varmints.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

That is cracking shooting Vic for such a light bullet in such high winds! The scope you have is a really nice low profile one with a power range which I like for accuracy at those ranges...and the trajectory has you good to go without change out to 200m as the 40m setting will be very close to your 200m setting given it's flat trajectory. The 1 inch/1moa come up for 100m for most varmints would mean a hit without changing the sights from 40m as well. Looks to be a very nice choice! That 17 HMR looks to be a great varmint rifle....congrats and good luck using it....
