I had some bad left to right strings of maybe 3" or so but it settled in after a few more rounds. I posted some pics of the new rifle and targets over on the outdoor and fieldcraft forum. Congrats on your SAR4, and good shooting tomorrow.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Congats on your SAR4, SF. I took mine out yesterday to try it out a little, and the more I use it the more I like it. I decided to compare it to another newcomer to my pack. The RC-6... which is nice and quite a bit cheaper, but the SAR4 out chopped it. The SAR4 came with a great edge and makes nice curls easily. ![[Linked Image from i150.photobucket.com]](http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s100/rainwalker15/SAR4use5.jpg)

Is it all it's cracked up to be as a user Jeff? vs. the RMD what do you think? Or just to different to compare?
I know it wins for being the prettier blade!

I'm pretty impressed with the SAR4, and in some ways you can compare it to the RMD, but in other ways it's different. Overall I'd say realistically the RMD is a better value, but the SAR4 is very capable of being a great dependable camp and survival knife and it sure is purty too!
I originally expected the SAR4 to be a small or small medium sized knife, but it definately falls in the medium multi purpose category.

Well I spend a few minutes this morning sorting out how I wanted to carry the SAR4 with the Mashed Cat sheath I ordered for convenience sake from the Busse Store. Thanks to Jeff's brilliant accessories I managed to get the sheath working just the way I want it. ![[Linked Image from i343.photobucket.com]](http://i343.photobucket.com/albums/o445/SteelFan-Infi/P1000706.jpg) The sheath comes with a Tek-Lock fitting which is pretty uncomfortable as a carry option...the knife rides far too high on your belt...drawing the knife on a strong hand side draw is like trying to scratch your right arm pit with your right hand...way too high as a draw. Thanks to Jeff's low rider hard loop and his fire steel loop I was able to get the sheath carrying the knife at a sensible low position and have the benefit of adding a fire steel for bushcraft use. ![[Linked Image from i343.photobucket.com]](http://i343.photobucket.com/albums/o445/SteelFan-Infi/P1000704.jpg) For the new guys on here Jeff's attention to detail on his accessories so that you can have a versatile carry system is one of the reason's I think he makes the best sheath systems in Kydex...bar none. ![[Linked Image from i343.photobucket.com]](http://i343.photobucket.com/albums/o445/SteelFan-Infi/P1000700.jpg) This knife now carries like a dream and the wrapped paracord enables me to opt to carry the knife round my kneck should I want to when wearing a rucksack and wanting easy access to the knife without undoing the rucksack hip belt. Once again....many thnks Jeff...

[/quote] For the real world of search and rescue, especially in thickly wooded areas, the SARsquatch looks like the one to have. Nice picture. I like the SAR5 more than the SAR4. The SAR4 looks handle heavy to me. They all look good. It would be nice to actually pick them up and get the feel of them before purchasing. I never can tell if I really like a knife until I handle it. [/quote]
I know that the SAR5 gets a bad rap sometimes, but I love mine. It is a great size knife and I love the feel.

The SAR5 is a good knife - I have a couple of them. Jerry could have done a better job on the handles though.

That is pretty impressive for an alleged 4" knife, Jeff. Out chopped the RC-6 and even came nice and sharp. Looks like Jerry did a good job on the SAR4.

When I initially plumbed for a SAR 4 I thought that a satin finished Infi knife which was nearly 5 inches long would be a great back up or second string knife to a FSH/NMSFNO chopper....infact I now consider the knife to be at the bottom rung of "chopper territory"....a knife which can hold it's own as a single knife choice....without being a burden to carry....and I must admit to being very impressed with this knife.
More pic's are needed but this knife does do very well as a single knife choice!

SF, I'm glad that my kydex accessories could help in making the SAR4 outfit work well. Congats on your SAR4, SF.

The SAR4 on the other hand came with a very nice convex edge that works very well right out of the packing.
