Clifton, you will be amazed at how MUCH BETTER these Scrap Yard knives hold an edge than the cheap crap you have been using. This is truly an entirely different breed of bladeware.
Oh yea, and with the new scrap yard knife being made of SR101 and no SR77, you are going to BE AMAZED at how sharp your S5 will stay even after insane levels of beating and cutting up on the mountain man.

I picked up a round retractable diamond sharpener the other day and I like it better than the flat sharpener. I still need to figure a strop out. Is there any compounds that are available at automotive stores that will work until I can get some green compound?

Is there any compounds that are available at automotive stores that will work until I can get some green compound? You'll see a lot of polishing compounds at Automotive stores, but I don't think you'll find much in the way of honing compounds, which is what you want to put on your leather strop. I imagine some of the knife specialty websites might carry it, but since I can get it shipped within three days from Lee Valley, I've never bothered to look. For a strop, you can either buy a double sided one from Lee Valley, which comes with the honing compound you need, Lee Valley Strop and Compound Or you could buy the leather from Lee Valley or some other site like Knife Kits, and build the strop yourself.

Thanks for the link tyger75. I have an old Carhart belt that is still good leather but too big for me now so I was going to use it until I get a real strop.

Did a little hunting today, and found a site that sells the honing compounds for a cheaper price. Is it as good as Lee Valleys.. I couldn't tell you. Here's the link: Honing Compound They sell the Black, Green, and Pink honing compound, but all we'll use for Bussekin knives is the Black and Green. I'm actually kinda glad I found the site, as I'm getting low on the Black, which is a slightly more abrasive grit than the Green. They sell Stropping Bats on the site as well, but the actual stropping surface on theirs is smaller than the one available from Lee Valley, plus theirs is a bit more expensive.
