I prefer a 9mm because on rapid fire I can control it better and shoot it faster and still hit where I aim compared to a .45 but much of the aim aspect is "subconscious" ... this only comes from lots of practise for me and "one" pistol works best ... especially in comps ... however in Europe a 9mm is the main calibre for comps.

I find that the mussle break works best on a 9mm ... and whilst some may see this as a "competition only" feature ... see if you can find one to try ... and you will be suprised at how they give a real defense advantage as well

They're really outstanding for keeping the muzzle flip to a minimum, the only disadvantages I could see are muzzle report and flash. At night in a dark hallway, 1 or 2 shots, and you'll probably be flash blind and your ears ringing. I certainly agree with you though, no reason a pistol couldn't do with a good muzzle brake, just like my rifles all have one type or another.

Skorpyd- Aren't those Rohrbaugh really pricey though? I suppose in comparison to the Boberg, they're comparable, but what price range are we talking about?

The LCR in 9mm might be a ticket, but I need to hold one first.

I'd like to see a LC9 next to a LCP.

Anyone familiar with this handgun? I plan to buy a Glock 30 this year but I am interested in hearing more about this FN. the ammo is interesting for a handgun.
FN Five/Seven - Holds 20 rounds too.

KS,

IIRC, Ishikawa had one. I looked at one for while. I'd still like to get one. While I've never shot one, a buddy of mine has two and swears by them.

I'd like to see an LCP size double stack pistol in this round. Wouldn't that be cool?

I have a FiveSeven. I love it! It made me rethink the roll of handguns. The term "battle pistol" never really registered to me until I got the fsn.

It's light weight, accurate, and reliable. If you want to find ammo at every corner store it's just not the gun for that. Everything else I'm happy about. Theres some pretty hot ammo out there claiming 2K+ out the pistol with the 5.7x28 round. I couldnt believe what I did at 25 yards my first time out with the fsn. Every range trip (until they banned the round at the range) got better and better.

and there's +10 round extensions for mags that cost $15-$20...

happy to answer any questions or show you to the people who can.

"It's light weight, accurate, and reliable."

That pretty much sums it up for me. Those were my main questions.

I'm not too concerned about getting ammo. How are the ergonomics? Fits in hand well? Comfy to shoot? How about recoil? Similar to what other caliber?

Thanks!

Yes ECF, the Rohrbaugh is pricey , even more than projected price on the Boberg. $1000 for a 9mm only a bit larger than an LCP. I was going to get a Sig P238, until I held one of the Rohrbaghs in my hand. 9mm power in a true pocket gun sold me. I haven't got into black rifles yet so I figured I better get one now.

ergos are good but different. the safety makes sense and you will remember it's the fsn you are holding. you should have it down the first day and be comfortable in a week or so of handling it. even if you frequently use another firearm your fingers will fall right where they need to be to work anything on the fsn.

the grip is long front to back because of the cartridge. I do prefer my fnp45 over the fsn for the grip but the fsn is fine once you hold it a few times and maybe for a minute. please keep in mind that I do not like the glock grips at all. I dont know how it would tranlate to anybody that does. another thing about the size, i read a few times where guys had had to give up the fsn to the better half. so i don't think the grips will be any issue but I recommend holding one before you buy it because it is a unique feel.

i really don't notice the recoil that much. its there but i really just dont notice enough to think about it while I'm shooting. going from my fnp45 to the fsn is like taking a break or something. I would need to shoo some more and actually pay attention I guess. all I think is "dang I like this gun!" I can say that the noise doesnt match the recoil at all. it's a boomer! buy ear to keep close by.

I found these videos.

and nutnfancy does a good 3 part review on the fsn. I still watch it 2 years after owning the fsn and for a guy who never actually used it he hits all points pretty spot on.

price tag and ammo factored into it I would still buy another if I ever lost the one I have.

Those FN pistols have interesting claibres but IMO "blind" designers ... they give me the sense of "loss of oppertunity" that the H&K P9S 9mm's did when I first saw them ... a sort of HUGE lack of beauty ... reminds me of the comic book drawings of pistols ... but you cannot argue at the ingenuity of the calibre .... a 2000 fps round with rifle style ballistic tips and hollow points .... great for those who want to shoot through bullet proof vests ... not so hot for those who have to wear them .... for Civi use I would worry about over penetration if carried in a defensive role .... if the bad guy has no kevlar then the risk of it zipping through him seems high .... I guess it would all depend on the bullet head construction. Lord knows how they would work with a teflon jacket though .... makes you wonder what FN had in mind for the LEO community or the Military when doing them ... I think level III armour might struggle with a teflon jacket ... you would really need a ceramic plate ...

Nothing wrong with them in lawful hands but for criminals and terrorists FN just seem to have done a pistol which enables "centre mass" shooting with mild recoil which would negate any of the comfort a low profile armour vest would offer ... so for this reason I have to say I am not very taken with them ... but no doubt other calibres can also do similar .... it is just that those calibres are usually large bore and designed for defense against dangerous game or hand gun hunting .... these pistols are something else ...

Anyway ... apologies if this causes offense .... it just concerns me that FN are a bit irresponsible on this sort of thing .... the LEO and Military have enough to contend with as it is ....
