Unfortunately my 165lb tawny male molosser dog-of-war was the first and last one I've owned.

Think you'll ever get another?

I wish I could have a dog... my brother and dad are highly alergic and it would cause their asthma to act up. I could get a hypoallergenic (sp way off, sorry) one I guess, but it's just not for me.

How hard was it for you to train?
I would imagine not too hard, even though they are a large and dominant breed.

Welcome Neo! Mastiffs are great dogs...I'm wanting a dog now and I just can't decide on a breed. There are just so many great dogs available. I really like the Akitas though.

Welcome and like you may be doing, I will be making the S5 my first SY knife.

Welcome to the yard, neomastiff. For the money, you can't beat these new Scrapper 5s that are coming in a week or less. Very good steel and a beautiful design.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

sorry to hijack guys...
though I guess dogs can be an appropriate topic... this is the yard after all.

Knotslip, I see you are in florida, and akita's have longish fur more developed for cold weather don't they?

I was always fond of Italian mastiffs myself. (cane corso)

emf - you're right about tke Akitas' fur being long, and not best-suited for Florida's heat. That Cane Corso in Gambit's avatar is an impressive looking dog!

For sure.
they're very playful though and are very family friendly.

Tom, I can't recall what kind (if any) of dogs you have?

emf - I have an old beagle, a black and tan coon-hound, and a rottweiler. They get along together quite well, even with our four cats!

thats right! I do remember that now.
Black and tans (or any hounds) always seemed like cool dogs to me.
Maybe it's because "where the red fern grows" was always one of my favorite books.

My b/t hound "Buddy" is really a cool dog, friendly and easy going. However, he is quite courageous and doesn't back down from anything, including my rottweiler!
