I actually like both. The mudder is probably better for food prep...

JYD #84 This is my rifle, and that is my SHTF Busse knife.

Mudders "ARE" made from Resiprene-C! they are just made different.

Here is the description we got for the SS4:

"The Street Scrapper 4 marries the horsepower of Busse Combat's legendary INFI steel with the graceful ergonomics and comfort of our Resiprene C "Mudder" handles. The generous choil in front of the guard allows for the necessary choke-up when doing fine work and ease of sharpening the entire edge without bumping into the corner of the primary bevel plunge line. The INFI Street Scrapper 4 offers a formidable blade size for both carry along the trail or urban duty"

Specs at a glance:

Steel: INFI

Hardness: 58 - 60 Rc

Handle: Resiprene C

Thickness: 3/16"

Blade Length: 4"

Overall Length: 9"

When I first saw Mudders I was like "weird" and wondered about their feel and comfort.
After reading how nice they are and getting my big paws on them, I very quickly
found out how excellent they are, for a solid, comfortable grip, plus
being made from ResC I know they will last and take a beating!

They are my favorite handles for use and comfort ever! SY and Busse did it right
big time.

I've never had a knife with the mudder handle. I'm really looking forward to it. It looks like it will be very ergonomic, and good for a variety of grips. That's what I like. It's also why I don't really like the ASH-1 handle... I tend to use an inverted grip sometimes and that particular grip just doesn't work all that well inverted.

Busse's TAC handle works great inverted, the Special Forces handle works pretty well, too.

I've used my MPLE and BDLE, gutting fish and small animals, and never once had the Mudder handle slip while doing so. It's the best stuff for someone who like to have a dependable knife that won't slip when your hands are covered in blood and guts. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

mudders feel great in the hand. Perfect for 5" and less knife. It seems to have more control than a normal handle. I have not notices slipping when they are wet.

The rubber on the HR is tackier than that of the rubber on my S4 (both wet and dry).

Then it might need cleaned. Try giving the handle a scrub with some dish soap & a nylon scrubber.
