I have used his trigger kit before and it does make a difference. Go to the faq page and there is good info on what to do to make the CZ more accurate.

Thanks. My gunsmith tunes some of the local CZs for matches. He is taking the trigger down to 2 lbs, which I like. Mine has no creep. He has springs and all in his shop. He is free floating the barrel. We will see how it does. I put a trigger kit in my Marlin and it is much better. I'm just hoping I can get this CZ to shoot as well as the Marlin shoots now. The CZ is nicer, but Marlins just tend to shoot well, clunky or not. CZs are dominating the local rimfire silhouette matches now (.22 LR).

I found an almost full box of Remington 17 HMR. Hmm, send them to you or buy a rifle for them?

That mirrors my experience with Marlin rimfires as well Vic.

I ordered a stripped AR-15 receiver and it came into my local FFL today. I went to pick it up and lo and behold he had an almost new Marlin 982VS in 22 WMR with a cheap scope for $225. Unable to resist I buy it only to find the local sporting goods emporium has 17 HMR ammo in stock but no 22 WMR. None. Zero. Nada.

So I did what any desperate firearm owner does, I put in my order at Natchez who had some (3 brands!) in stock. Saved by the internet.

If I were in Oklahoma, I would just have to get a new rifle in 17 HMR. If you do, I hear that the inexpensive Savages shoot as well as any of them. They have a new trigger. Come to think of it, the most accurate rifle I ever had was a Savage 110.

The old 22 WMR can be fun, too. Set up right, it can be a 150 yd gun. My CZ in that caliber favored the heavy Federal 50 gr rounds. For $225 how can you go wrong? You know the rifle will shoot well. It's a Marlin. That means you can afford to put a nice scope on it, if the cheap one doesn't work out, right? Good luck, Kraz. Hey HORNDOG , Nice CZ...I just got the 7.62x39...it's a perfect little woods gun. Do you really like the .17 over the .22wmr??? Here in FLA...we have hogs running amuk and my .22mag takes em down good when I do my part. I don't think I'd try that with the .17.

I think the 22 Mag is a better hog caliber, too. But Hogs are usually take at close range in thick cover. I am pretty sure the 17 HMR with a well placed shot and the right bullet (not the V-Max) would kill a hog, but my hog gun is a 44 Magnum Winchester 94. I didn't buy the .17 for anything big. If I ever get another 22 magnum, it will be a Henry lever action. I have two friends who have CZ "mini-mausers" in 7.62 x 39. Great little carbines for deer hunting in the woods.

I have a friend talking about getting rid of his CZ 527 in 7.62x39mm----- sure keep encouraging him to. To me that is!

Horn Dog. I'm just an old trigger puller however can usually shoot 1" groups at 100 yards with no wind using 17 Vmax in my CZ 452 .17 HMR Varmint. My longest PD kill was 208 yards [lasered]..took several shots to get on him. I don't like getting "crawlers" so usually restrict ranges to where DRT is a reasonable expectation.

Gotta to watch the wind on PDs with a .17 HMR..pushes the bullet and very hard to see misses as no dust.

Have an AccuTrigger Savage .17 HMR that I do not shoot as well..thumbhole stock with big rollover cheek piece and I have trouble keeping my fat face/whiskers off it,LOL.

Thanks for the info, Unk. Yes I think 1" groups should be possible with this rifle at 100 meters even. But you are right about the wind. It really blows these little 17 gr bullets around. A 200+ yard kill with a rimfire is impressive enough to me. The longest shot I am likely to have on my terrain is a little over 100 meters. While I have 22s that can hit within 1.5" at 100 m, they are hard to use on varmints unless I know the exact range because of the trajectory of round. The flat shooting HMR is pretty much on the money from 25 yds to 100 yds aiming dead on.
