just found out a girl a used to work with and briefly dated, has stage 4 breast cancer, that has spread to both her breast and liver. she is given 3-5 years to live, can't remove the cancer it's spread too far. radical chemo and radiation or not an option either. she's 29 and has a 4 year old daugther. haven't talked to her yet, found out about it by third party, just don't know what to say when i do see her.

Man, I hate to hear that. Just be there fir her is all I can say. Prayers and smoke sent out asap.

bad enough news, but having a daughter makes it so much worse. God have mercy on them both.

Whenever I am in that boat, I do something rather than say something. Bringing her something to lift her spirits or even just dealing with a common everyday chore might be cool. I wish her and her child the best.

It is tragic when young mothers get terminal cancer. I don't know what to do or say, but do continue to be her friend. When my late wife got seriously ill with cancer, many of our "friends" disappeared. She died at 38 and left me with two little girls to raise as best I could. Just be there for her and help her with things if she asks.

And while prayers did not heal my wife, I have since come to believe that God hears prayers and sometimes does heal those with cancer. Prayers can't hurt.

Many years ago, Mom had a friend who died of cancer. They weren't terribly close, and between that and not knowing how to deal with such a serious illness, she rationalized distancing herself. She still feels guilt over having done so, and took it as a life lesson to help support other friends who have fallen ill since that time.
