Did you re-profile your RAT-3? Do you like that blade? 1095?

Just a heads up, that's not a rat-3, it's a rc-3. Two different knives from different companies, Mike and Jeff were the original designers but because of some legal issues, Ontario still has the rights to their design, so Mike and Jeff started Rat Cutlery (RC). The RAT-3 (1095) was my first fixed blade and it's a good knife; the rc-3 has a longer handle and tougher coat. Great design overall. RC has a great Busse-like warranty as well.

Cool pictures, I still have yet to make a fire from that method. Is the board and drill collected from wood found locally in your area?

Nice camp, WB! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

I love that Wikiup! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Friction firemaking is such a cool way to make fire! Once I learned I had a whole new appreciation and respect for Fire.

I'm glad to hear the NMSFNO pants are coming in handy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Awesome pics! The bow method of fire making takes skill. The last time I did the bow method was YEARS ago as a boy scout. I gotta get refreshed on the method and practice again. Good job <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Nice campsite. I never really put a lot of effort into learning the bow drill... I always had a ferro rod and magnesium fire starter. Or matches!

to awnser some qiestions i did re profile the rc-3 and i like the 1095 but dont live it, it gets dull pretty quickly but toutches up nicely, and that wood i colected was gathered in the local woods but am not shure what knid of wood it is. and dont think i am that good at the bow drill that was only the secon dime i ever got it to work ussaly i just use a ferro rod.
