I would definitely be a fan of a Scrap Yard replacement for the Camp Tramp in SR-101. Call it whatever you want, put that whacky squared choil in it if you want to brand it as being from the Yard, but gimme a decent sized camp knife without the ridiculous heft of a full-on chopper, and I will be a happy camper (literally!)

I think the Camp Tramp has a decently higher grind than the SOD which would make it in my opinion more suitable for an overall camp knife. To me though, .25" thick is too thick for a "do it all" camp knife regardless of the grind. I think the SOD was designed as a chopper and not an all around camp knife, and that significant modifications other than just changing the steel would need to be made to make it fit that role. I bought one because it looks like a little brute chopper that I can beat the hell out of, and I don't have a knife that fills that niche yet. Would I be in for a SR-101 SOD with a full flat, or a high sabre grind at .20 or so to use as a camp knife? Yeah, that's starting to sound pretty good to me, but you may not be able to call it a SOD anymore.

They did a DFLE with a full flat, when the original had a saber, so why not?

Heck, brother Jerry seems to have a TRADITION of offering the same knife in eight thousand different configurations with different thicknesses, so why not an "anorexic" DFCG made from SR101 with a full flat grind??? I'd buy that.

Just some thoughts/suggestions on future Yard knives. I think that Dan would probably appreciate his customers' feedback and thoughts on what they would be buying in the future from "poor old Dan." I'm sure though that he will pay little attention, and release a knife that after we get it we wonder how we ever did without. Can't wait for the next release, whatever it may be!

I'm not a huge fan of full flat grind. I like the extra meat on a saber grind for potential full convex grind purposes.

I know I've posted these pics a hundred times, but look at how beautiful these are! Not to mention their awesome cutting power.

I hear you. I prefer full convex for most 7+ inch knives, but I am also fine with a flat grind with just a convex edge. It is pretty easy to convex the edge of a knife and you can carry it up a little ways along the flat surface of the blade.
By the way those blades are gorgeous!

Change that to 5/16" thick, and an 18" cutting edge, and I'm in. Especially if the handle is weighted to improve the balance.

I sooo misssed the SOD.
I'd love a 7-8" (well probably an 8") at say .25-7/16" thick in SR101.
I'd like to see an asymetric grind offering (as an option if necessary) on the CG.
My housemate has an SHE with an asymmetric grind - I've never used one but the idea intrigues me - especially on a user.

But of all the Dawg's I'd like to see most?
A lap dog.
...well a maybe not a lap dog.
But a pocket dog.
Yup a folder.
The fabled Busse folder is ... - well who knows when we might see that?
The Rat Trap? Lovely, but it's been and gone and a whole lotta people missed out.
Dan you could do all of a us a huge service if you'd release a folder.
